Job description

Federal Work-Study positions are part-time positions hired each semester and are for current Ivy Tech students.
The Community Service Assistant will support Habitat for Humanity's mission by assisting with construction projects, volunteer activities, warehouse operations, and administrative functions. This position provides students with valuable real-world experience while contributing to affordable housing initiatives within the community.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with residential construction projects under the supervision of Habitat staff and volunteers.
  • Support volunteer teams during build days by helping organize materials, tools, and work areas.
  • Assist with warehouse operations, including receiving, sorting, organizing, and tracking donated materials.
  • Help maintain safe, clean, and organized job sites, warehouse spaces, and work areas.
  • Assist with inventory management and supply tracking for construction projects and warehouse operations.
  • Support administrative functions such as data entry, filing, document preparation, and record management.
  • Assist with volunteer coordination, scheduling, and event preparation.
  • Help with community outreach activities, special events, and donor engagement efforts as assigned.
  • Assist staff with project planning, material organization, and other operational support activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of Habitat for Humanity's mission & programs.

Starting Salary Range: $18.00 per hour
Minimum Position Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Construction Related Courses and Experience Preferred
  • Up to 15 hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling based on class schedules and organizational needs.
  • Some evenings or weekends may be available depending on projects and events.

Minimum Federal Work Study Qualifications:
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Student must have completed the current FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.
  • Maintain a minimum of 1 credit hour or more of enrollment in eligible courses.
  • Maintain an aid-eligible Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status.
  • The student cannot have any incomplete financial aid requirements.
