Job description

The Athletic Communications Department promotes Union College student-athletes through our website and wide-ranging media relations efforts. This position offers students the opportunity to contribute to the department's highly visible and important video streaming efforts.
Department: Athletic Communications
Location: Alumni Gym/Sporting Events
Supervisor: Steve Sheridan
Work available: Days, nights, weekends
Rate of Pay: $16.00/hr
Number of Positions Available: 10
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Provide quality camera work for game broadcasts to provide the best possible experience for viewers.
  • Serve as the primary play-by-play or color commentator on broadcast/live video streams for select Union sports throughout the season, with the expectation you will cover all or most of the team(s)' games. Potential sports may include: football, field hockey, soccer, volleyball, hockey, basketball, baseball, softball and lacrosse.
  • Conduct research on both Union and opposing teams in order to familiarize yourself with both teams before a game and provide necessary and entertaining information on the broadcast.
  • Helping to produce game notes and other broadcast content.
  • Interview players and/or coaches before or after games.
  • Create highlight clips from games for posting on the Athletics website and social media (if interested)

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the sport(s) being broadcasted is required.
  • Professionalism and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Training will be provided.
  • Ability to take direction and learn.
  • Must be a current Union College student.
