Job description

The North Plainfield School District invites applications for a Flag Football Varsity Assistant Coach position at North Plainfield High School.

North Plainfield is a diverse and vibrant community committed to developing the whole child through academics, athletics, and extracurricular opportunities. Our athletic programs emphasize excellence, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and character development. We are seeking a passionate, student-centered coach who is committed to helping build a comprehensive flag football program that supports student-athletes both on and off the field.

Qualifications and Responsibilities:

Required:

  • Valid New Jersey Teaching Certificate or New Jersey Substitute Certificate.
  • Current certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid (or the ability to obtain certification prior to the start of the season).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of flag football fundamentals, offensive/defensive techniques, game-day responsibilities, safety standards, and position-specific skill progression 
  • Ability to assist in organizing practices, supervise students, and maintain a safe, positive learning environment. 
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, school administration, athletic administration, and the high school coaching staff. 
  • Foster an academic-based athletic culture by encouraging academic excellence, accountability, and positive citizenship while supporting student-athletes in achieving success both in the classroom and in flag football. 
  • Knowledge of NJSIAA, school district, and Board of Education policies governing athletics and extracurricular activities 

Preferred:

  • Previous flag football coaching and/or playing experience preferred (or relevant experience in football coaching/tactics)
