  1. Current and valid CPR, First Aid, Concussion Training, Pupil Activity Certification, NFHS, Ohio Sudden Cardiac Arrest training
  2. Prior successful football coaching experience
  3. Current Ohio Teaching Certification/Licensure preferred

DUTIES:
  1. Shows loyalty to System
  2. Responsible for issuing, care, and collection of equipment
  3. Supervises players in areas under coach's responsibility
  4. To build positive relationships with student athletes, parents and support groups for the benefit of the players and the football program. Program decisions should reflect building positive relationships whenever possible
  5. Oversee and coordinate the entire football program (grades 7 - 12) and assist other feeder programs to insure a successful comprehensive football program. Offensive, defensive, & special team schemes should be taught at the appropriate level to insure continuity and repetition within the entire program
  6. Reach out to the general student body (grades 7 - 12) and other feeder programs within the area to encourage participation in the football program
  7. Reach out to parents and community members to help increase participation and promote a positive image of the Ashtabula Area City Schools and its football program
  8. Work closely with the Athletic Director and Building Principals to promote academic achievement and positive character development of our football players (grades 7 - 12)
  9. Provide a fair due process procedure for student athlete discipline that includes parental participation. Be willing to work through the development process of our young people by using well thought out discipline procedures that use expulsion as a last resort
  10. Work closely with the Athletic Director to schedule football contest (grades 7-12)
  11. Promote school and community spirit for our football program by attending school rallies, booster, civic and other meetings marketing the football program
  12. Run a football program with great enthusiasm and energy that is visible. Instill in the players a sense of individual and team spirit of competition
  13. Run a football program that always demonstrates class that is visible. Demonstrate and instill in the players an attitude of good sportsmanship, which teaches solid moral and ethical values
  14. Work together in a professional manner with financial support groups and the Athletic Director to run the program, at a minimum, capable of financially sustaining itself
  15. Work with Athletic Director to select assistant football coaches
  16. Lead, teach, and evaluate the assistant coaching staff (grades 7 - 12) in relationship to the goals of the comprehensive successful football program as stated in this job description
  17. Provide a winter and summer conditioning program (grades 7 - 12) within the rules of the OHSAA that insures maximum participation and supervision. These programs are to be used to encourage maximum participation and not to exclude participants from coming out for the team
  18. Oversee and coordinate all football summer camps for the District
  19. Promote and develop a good working relationship with all coaches and teachers within the District
  20. Support our student athletes in college preparation activities, e.g. application, testing, financial aid
  21. Promote our student athletes with college recruiters. Great effort should be given to place student athletes at the Division I, II, or III level to play football in college. Effort should also be given to insure a career path for those student athletes that will not play football in college
  22. Abide by the rules and regulations of the OHSAA and Ashtabula Area City Schools Board of Education
  23. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Principal, and/or Athletic Director
