Job description


The IC Athletic Events & Facilities interns will assist the Athletic Department in the successful 
operation of all athletically-related events, rental groups, facility set up and facility 
supervision during nights and weekends. The position will provide quality event and athletic 
facility experience that includes supervisory opportunities. The ideal candidate would be equally 
comfortable working independently, in an office setting, and various group sizes. Responsibilities 
include:

Facility Management
-  Complete appropriate facility setups and executing facility change overs for varsity, junior 
varsity, student organizations, and outside group events
-  Supervise and manage the Bruner Fitness Center by enforcing all posted rules and guidelines 
during evenings and weekends
-  Ensure all equipment is returned to the weightroom, multipurpose room, cardio rooms, fieldhouse, 
and Sherman at the end of the evening
-  Oversee procedures to open, operate and close Bruner Fitness Center on weekday evenings and 
weekends
-  Enforce facility rules and address policy violations in a professional and respectful manner.
-  Respond appropriately to emergencies, accidents, injuries, and facility incidents following 
college protocols.
-  Conduct routine facility inspections to identify safety hazards, equipment issues, and 
cleanliness concerns.
-  Report all facility repair requests to the Associate Director of Athletics (via Google form)

Game Day Management
-  Complete all setup and teardown for athletic and rental events as well as be the assigned event 
manager for smaller rental groups
-  Assist as needed in the operation of large rental events (i.e IHSA Super Sectionals, Routt 
football games, etc.)
 

Requirements:
- Experience with event supervision or customer service preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with an attention to detail
- Creative, problem solving individual that positively contributes to a team
- Must be an Illinois College student during the duration of the internship and have a minimum sophomore level status
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. and stand for long periods of time
- Must be willing to attend staff meetings as schedule allows
- Any returning Illinois College student may apply, but preference will be given to Illinois College students majoring in Business Administration with Sports Management concentration
- Ability to work weekends and evenings is required
