Position Title: Food Scientist
Direct Report: Director of QA & RD
Facility: Filet of Chicken (Forest Park, GA)

Filet of Chicken (a division of House of Raeford) is a family-owned and operated private company that produces fresh and further processed chicken. We strive to create a culture of doing the right thing for our employees, customers, suppliers, and communities. We ensure that every step of the process, from feed mills to farms to manufacturing is taken with care and done exactly as it should be.
Job Summary
The Food Scientist position is responsible for Research and Development and Regulatory initiatives for further processed, ready to cook, poultry products. Their focus will be on National Chain and Food Service accounts with opportunities for Retail account development.
Job Responsibilities
  • Customer specification review and bench top development of products.
  • Develop formulations, concepts, and presentations on new/emerging trends.
  • Create production specifications, parameters, and update when necessary.
  • Support commercialization during start up period and perform data analysis.
  • Train employees on customer/specification standards, expectations, and internal programs.
  • Analysis of products for formulation optimization and accuracy and troubleshooting.
  • Oversee everyday operations of on-site test kitchen.
  • Create labels/packaging in compliance with FSIS/USDA guidelines.
  • Submit to FSIS/USDA for approvals and generate generic internal approvals.
  • Generate nutritionals with computer programs for customers and packaging.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Culinary, or a related field. Master's degree is preferred.
  • Thorough education in food analysis, food processing operations, and food law and regulations.
  • At least 2 years of food related experience highly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and standing in the test kitchen or production.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. periodically.
