SCHEDULE: Full Time, Varied Hours/Shift, 13

The Food Service Associate (Tray line) is an essential member of the Nutrition & Food Service team responsible for dispensing food for patients and employees, and various activities; portioning food according to department standards and Supervisor’s instructions; assembling food attractively on plate according to department guidelines and direction; handling food appropriately to ensure that is maintained at proper temperature; possessing knowledge of modified diet as indicated by proper assembling of modified diet orders; maintaining assigned departments areas in clean, neat, and sanitary manner; transporting and storing food in safe and proper manner to ensure food quality; adhering to the safety and sanitation standards of department to ensure quality food service; and providing relief for other duties in patient food services as needed, including, but not limited to, helping patients with menu selection, patient tray and nourishment delivery and pick up, verifying diet orders with nursing, and patient rounds to ensure patient satisfaction. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 

  • Ability to read, write, follow oral and written instructions. 
  • On-the-job training provided. 
  • Ability to work harmoniously with a variety of people. Must show courtesy and tact, confidentiality, and reasonable speed in performance of duties. 
WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION 

Potential hazards from using heated china, can openers, lifting boxes, pushing food carts, placing and removing trays from the lowest to highest point of food cart, working in possible water spills around dish machine during peak periods, and from other equipment found in the department - all possibly producing minor burns, cuts, bruises, and strains. Extensive walking and standing during shift. Requires lifting and bending using correct techniques. Able to lift loads up to 30 pounds. Exposure to infectious materials, hazardous chemicals, loud noise, slippery surfaces and moving objects. Must be able to perform motor skills frequently such as wrist turning, grasping, pinching, and finger manipulation. Frequently required to bend, twist, turn and reach full range of motion and occasionally climb stairs.
