The Glenwood Community School District is currently taking applications for a Food Service Worker at Northeast Elementary. ย The starting wage is $13.69 per hour.

FOOD SERVICE WORKER (COOK/SERVER/DISHWASHER)

GLENWOOD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS - CLASSIFIED STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION

Position:ย  Food Service Worker/Cook

Qualifications:ย 

  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • Must pass required background checks and physical
  • Knowledge of food production techniques, preparation and serving practices.
  • Must be able to operate all food service equipment.
  • Must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written directions in English.

Essential Function:

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to withstand heat and fluctuations in temperature.
  • Must be able to work simultaneously with both hands.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Reports To: Food Service Kitchen Manager

Consults With: Other kitchen employees

Position Goal: The food service worker under the supervision of the manager is responsibleย for preparing, serving, and clean-up activities.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Attendance is necessary to be successful in this position.
  • Assists in preparing food items by using appropriate methods and standardized recipes as assigned by manager or supervisor.
  • Assists with portioning, serving, and kitchen clean-up.
  • Maintains standard of sanitation and safety.
  • Maintains good public relations with students, parents, faculty, and community.
  • Recognizes properly prepared food items by sight, taste, and smell.
  • Uses equipment as directed.
  • Uses ovens, steamers, steam jacketed kettles, dish machine, slicer, mixers, and other equipment.
  • Operates dish machine and complies with proper dish machine procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: Days students are in school and as needed for meals. Wage schedules shall be subject to annual review and modification by the Glenwood Board of Education or through the collective bargaining process, where one exists.ย 

Evaluation: Food Service Director and Manager evaluate Food Service Worker once a year.
