 Quality & Food Safety Technician


Reports directly to the Food Safety and Quality Manager. The Quality Control Technician is responsible for the quality, food safety, and aesthetics of the product. The QC Technician follows established processes and ensures adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety standards, Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements, and product quality standards.

Key Responsibilities (or Principal Accountabilities):

  • Responsible for monitoring and programming critical control points (CCP).
  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring food safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Responsible for performing sanitation verification and allergen testing on equipment and other areas required.
  • Responsible for the correct recording and filing of all relevant record logs and Documentation.
  • Ensures the correct recipe guidelines for products are met during processing.
  • Ensures employees are following all Food Safety and worker safety practices.
  • Ensures and educates employees on food safety and SQF standards.
  • Comply with all food safety regulations--HACCP, GMPs, and SOPs.
  • Perform plant food safety audits and determine food safety hazards or areas to improve in the plant and process
  • Conduct daily product evaluation
  • Ensuring the products we manufacture and ship meet the GFCO (Gluten Free Certification Organization) standards and requirements  
Requirements:
  • Must be fluent in English and able to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Solid understanding of HACCP, GMPs, and SOPs.
  • Strong attention to detail, thorough, focused, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a team member and respond promptly.
  • Ability to work a full shift, including some Saturdays, come to work on time, and work overtime as needed.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft software applications (Word, PPT, Excel), a plus.
  • Must be able to perform heavy work up to 50 pounds of force on an occasional basis.

Desired Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED. An associate degree or higher in a related field is a plus.
  • 1-2  years of experience in a food processing/manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift. 
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. 
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, twist, kneel, reach, and climb stairs as needed. 
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, including hot, cold, and warehouse/production environments. 
  • Must be able to use required personal protective equipment (PPE). 
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions, including hand and arm movements, throughout the shift.
