Job description

Production Utility Worker
Location: Berwick, PA
Pay Rate: $18.70/hour
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift
Overtime: Frequent/Weekly Overtime Required
Position Overview
We are currently hiring Production Utility Workers for a busy manufacturing facility in Berwick, PA. We have openings supporting both the Finishing and Grinding/Molding departments.
Production Utility Workers will perform a variety of duties to support the manufacturing operation, including inspecting and reworking finished products, maintaining clean and organized production areas, assisting with different production tasks, and helping keep the production process running efficiently.
Candidates must be dependable, safety-conscious, comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment, and willing to learn multiple production functions.
Schedule
  • Monday–Friday
  • Finishing: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Grinding: 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
  • Start times may occasionally be earlier depending on production orders and business needs
  • Frequent/weekly overtime is required
  • Occasional Saturdays may be required based on production needs
  • Must be flexible to work additional hours as needed

Responsibilities
Depending on the department, responsibilities may include:
  • Inspect finished carpet pad rolls for defects and rework defective material into usable, quality product
  • Assist with various positions throughout the finishing production line
  • Provide coverage for production employees during breaks, lunches, and production interruptions
  • Learn and follow product specifications and quality standards, including color, thickness, roll length, and acceptable defect levels
  • Identify and report product quality issues
  • Remove scrap material and place it in designated areas
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping throughout the production department and warehouse
  • Sweep, wipe down, and blow down production areas
  • Assist production teams with various tasks as needed
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized manufacturing environment
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other departments
  • Identify and report product, process, or quality issues
  • Follow all company safety, environmental, quality, and conduct policies
  • Follow ISO 9001:2015 and continuous improvement practices
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by management

Requirements
  • Previous production, manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial experience preferred
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to learn and perform multiple production functions
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions
  • Must be able to work well with others
  • Must speak and understand English
  • Must follow all safety and environmental policies
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be dependable and have reliable attendance
  • Must be willing and able to work frequent overtime
  • Must be flexible to work occasional Saturdays when required by production needs

IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT
Reliable attendance is critical for this position. Candidates must be able to commit to having NO MISSED TIME during the first 30 days of the assignment. Any planned time off should be discussed prior to accepting the position.
Physical & Working Requirements
  • Must be able to stand for the entire shift
  • Frequent bending and twisting
  • Ability to perform physically active work throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift light to heavy materials as required
  • Comfortable working around dust and debris
  • Above-average noise levels; hearing protection is required
  • Must be comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment

Pay Details: $18.70 per hour
