JOB DESCRIPTION

Supervisor:

COOK

Status: PART TIME

Shift: 11:30AM-7:30PM

Qualifications:

Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalency. ServSafe Certification is Mandatory. Associate degree in culinary arts, culinary science, or specialized culinary training preferred. Previous kitchen or food prep experience preferred. Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices preferred. Previous experience in a long-term facility preferred. Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to support daily kitchen operations by preparing ingredients and maintaining an organized work station. Provide a supportive role to keep the kitchen running efficiently, while following recipes and food safety standards.

Functions:

Ability to wash, chop, measure, and portion ingredients such as produce, meats and seasonings and ensure safe, nutritious food preparation.

Ability to measure, portion, and label ingredients to ensure consistency and minimize waste.

Ability to prepare items according to recipes and prep lists, including basic cooking tasks like parboiling and sauce reduction.

Ability to setup workstations with ingredients and tools needed for service.

Ability to label, stock, rotate and store ingredients properly to ensure freshness and easy access.

Ability to manage inventory and label food to comply with Federal, State, and Facility specific regulations.

Ability to assist with special/therapeutic diet trays and ensure food meets nutritional standards.

Ability to monitor ingredient levels and communicate needs to Cook or Food Service Supervisor.

Ability to organize, label and rotate stock in pantries and refrigerators.

Ability to maintain a clean and organized prep area, including proper food storage.

Ability to clean dishes, utensils, and work areas throughout the shift.


Ability to sanitize surfaces and dispose of waste according to food safety standards.

Ability to follow all food safety, sanitation, nutrition, food safety and hygiene standards at all times .

Ability to work closely with Cook and Food Service Supervisor to keep food prep on schedule.

Ability to support kitchen team during service and assist with end-of-shift cleanup.

Ability to serve breakfast and lunch meals.

Ability to carry out assigned duties in a cooperative manner.

Ability to attend required in-service training programs.

Ability to observe all facility policies and procedures, including infection control, fire prevention and safety.

Ability to come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.

Ability to follow Resident's Rights policies at all times. This includes the ability to maintain the confidentiality of resident care information.

Ability to report all unsafe/hazardous conditions to your supervisor or his/her designate immediately.

Ability to perform other related duties as directed by your supervisor or his/her designate.
