What you will be doing

  • Conduct frequent and unscheduled food safety and sanitation audits 
  • Monitor and assist distribution to comply with local, state and federal food safety and health standards, including personal hygiene and hand washing, temperature control of potentially hazardous foods, cross contamination control, pest control and chemical use training. 
  • Review distribution center sanitation evaluation reports provided by pest control and sanitation supplies. 
  • Prepare food safety and sanitation discussion topics for weekly meetings. 
  • Monitor Food Safety and Sanitation self-inspection and record keeping requirements. 
  • Implement plans to address noted deficiencies to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable health regulations. 
  • Direct third-party pest control and chemical suppliers in their day-to-day, communicating to them needs for training, supplies and service. 
  • Communicates inspection results to VPGM/site leader and provides recommendations for improvements. Provides regular updates directly to the VPGM/site leader of trends that could impact the business. 
  • Educate and train personnel in food safety standards and regulations. 
  • Stay updated on local, state, and federal food safety laws and regulations. 

What we are searching for

  • Education Level: 
    • Degree in public health, environmental health, food science, or equivalent experience.  
  • Experience Level: 
    • 1 - 2 years' experience or education in food handling, sanitation, or public health preferred 
    • Must obtain all professional licensure required by local law or regulation. 
    • Familiarity with grocery retail or distribution experience preferred
