Description:

This on-site position is located in Newark, Delaware. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wilmington is seeking a Maintenance Technician who will provide maintenance services to Marydale Retirement Village residents and assist the Maintenance Supervisor with the care and maintenance of the property building and grounds.


The schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm and requires rotating on-call availability throughout the week, as needed


Essential Functions:

  • Performs general maintenance and repairs of structures, equipment, vehicles and grounds. Ensures resident satisfaction through effective communication and professionalism.
  • Ensures all maintenance work is in accordance with State/Federal and OSHA standards and maintains required accreditations.
  • Assists Maintenance Supervisor with all required inspections including HUD, Tax Credit, Diocesan, Cinnaire (private investor), Board of Health, Fire Suppression System, Back Flow, Chair Lifts, Marydale Vehicles and Tenant Units.
  • Maintains required records of all repairs, preventative maintenance, warranties and inspections.
  • Supervises operations programs as assigned, i.e., Activities Center, Food Distribution and Parking Voucher Programs.
  • Oversees unit turnovers as needed, including moving in and out of materials, cleaning and painting units, and other simple repairs which may be required.
  • Meets daily maintenance requests, as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Administrator.
  • Performs set up and take down duties for special activities and events, including food distribution and resident programs.
  • Executes routine cleaning, janitorial services, and light building maintenance as required.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and completion of an accredited vocational trades program and at least 3 years of experience in building and mechanical/emergency systems maintenance and /or repair, including at least one year of experience in repairs to HVAC systems; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of using hand tools and power equipment.
  • Ability to interact with Marydale staff and residents in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in resident units as assigned.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively on maintenance and repair projects, requiring a team approach.
  • Ability to safeguard access of confidential or sensitive information of data.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with individuals from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Willingness to consent to a satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening in accordance with applicable laws.
  • A commitment to the mission and values of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wilmington.
