Job description

Summary/Objective

The PIV Specialist is the individual responsible for inputting customer information into the proxy card machine and PIV card machine as well as the Cross-Match Fingerprinting system.ย  The PIV Specialist verifies that the employee or contractor is the person to whom the credential is being issued.ย  The specialist also provides building access on the card as well as activating and unlocking cards.ย  The PIV specialist confirms that the individual present at time of enrollment is sponsored, inspects two I-9 identity-source documents which are later placed in the individual investigation folder.

Job Description

  • Create, maintain, and run reports on card production and access control using various methods to track documents, log books and electronic databases. Tracking and reporting of all card number of cards issued, revoked, recovered, and destroyed is required
  • Provide fingerprinting services for authorized DHS personnel using appropriate fingerprinting equipment and supplies. Tracking and reporting number of fingerprint sets is required.
  • Deliver professional customer service to customers including in-person appointments, answering phone calls and emails, resolving questions, troubleshooting problems.
  • Serve as an enrollment official to issue and print ย cards to customers upon authorized request using current software and/or web-based application(s) after verifying personnel data, employment status, security clearance and taking a photograph within a timely manner.
  • Track inventory of ย card consumables on a daily basis to ensure sufficient supplies are available and for accountability purposes; notify appropriate OSI staff or PCIF Manager of supplies needed prior to the depletion of appropriate stock levels.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures to ensure the HQ PIV ID Unit is operational during designated business hours to include logging in/out of computers and access control systems/databases, filing paperwork, preparing for and verifying same/next day appointments, stocking supplies.
  • Take photos and process personnel data upon request for customers needing credentials, and advise customers of next steps once credentials are ready for pick up.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

Experience in related subject area, and at least 1-year experience working in a federal government environment or professional office setting is preferred. Preferred familiarity with the process of obtaining badges and or security processing and fingerprinting.ย  Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have experience with Excel and Outlook. Must have exemplary customer service skills.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position, generally requiring 24 hours week, Tuesday - Thursday 8 am โ€“ 4:30 pm. No travel is expected for this position.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and capable of successfully passing a background investigation and credit check.
