Position Overview

IT Operations & Digital Systems Intern to support internal technology, content systems, and digital workflows.

This role’s first major assignment will be helping organize and migrate digital assets into EBONY’s digital asset management platform. This project will include locating files, preparing assets, deduplicating assets, applying metadata, checking data quality, documenting processes, and identifying ways to make the workflow faster through technology and automation. This initial project will provide hands-on experience with EBONY’s content, systems, teams, and operating processes. As the selected candidate gains experience, the position will expand into broader IT operations, internal software support, technical documentation, user support, system testing, and process improvement. The role will also support the configuration of templates in EBONY’s custom-built social media platform. This work may include testing layouts, troubleshooting issues, documenting settings, reporting bugs, and working with the Director of IT to improve the platform.

Role Progression

Initial Focus: Digital Systems and Asset Operations

The selected candidate will:
  • Support the migration of digital assets into EBONY’s digital asset management system.
  • Organize files and apply consistent naming and metadata standards.
  • Review uploads for accuracy, quality, duplicates, and missing information.
  • Maintain project records and document repeatable processes.
  • Help improve the speed and accuracy of asset processing.
  • Explore approved scripts, bulk tools, or automation methods when appropriate.
  • Secondary Focus: Internal Platform Support

    Responsibilities will also include:
  • Building and configuring templates in EBONY’s custom social media tool.
  • Testing templates with different images, headlines, and content types.
  • Identifying bugs, layout issues, and workflow problems.
  • Documenting how templates are created and maintained.
  • Assisting with testing new platform features and updates.
  • Long-Term Focus: IT Operations

    As the selected candidate demonstrates accuracy, reliability, and technical ability, responsibilities may expand to include:

  • Supporting basic employee technology requests.
  • Assisting with device setup and equipment inventory.
  • Helping manage routine Microsoft 365 and user account tasks.
  • Creating and updating IT documentation.
  • Testing websites, internal tools, and software changes.
  • Assisting with data cleanup, reporting, and system audits.
  • Supporting basic security and compliance processes.
  • Creating scripts or automations for repetitive internal tasks.
  • Researching technology solutions and documenting recommendations.
  • Preferred Skills and Experience

    Candidates are not expected to have experience in every area. Helpful skills include:

  • Familiarity with Frontify or another digital asset management or content management system.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, especially Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of Power Automate, Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or another automation or scripting tool.
  • Experience organizing files, cleaning spreadsheet data, and working with CSV files.
  • Understanding of metadata, tagging, file naming, and folder structures.
  • Familiarity with common image, video, and document formats.
  • Basic knowledge of image dimensions, resolution, compression, and file size.
  • Ability to document technical processes clearly.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for computers, browsers, and business applications.
  • Experience with Intune and Entra ID is a plus but not required.
