Flywheel information

What is a flywheel?

A flywheel is a mechanical device specifically designed to efficiently store rotational energy. It works by resisting changes in rotational speed, helping to maintain a consistent output of energy even when the input energy fluctuates. Flywheels are commonly used in engines, industrial machines, and energy storage systems to smooth out energy delivery, reduce vibration, and improve overall efficiency. They are essential in applications where steady and reliable energy is required.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Flywheel engineer?

To thrive as a Flywheel Engineer, you need a solid background in mechanical engineering, physics, and rotational dynamics, typically supported by a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with CAD software, simulation tools like ANSYS, and industry standards for rotating machinery is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective teamwork are important soft skills for excelling in this role. These competencies are crucial for designing, testing, and maintaining reliable flywheel systems used in energy storage and mechanical applications.

What are the main responsibilities of a Flywheel engineer in a manufacturing setting?

As a Flywheel Engineer in a manufacturing environment, your typical responsibilities include designing, analyzing, and optimizing flywheel systems used for energy storage or mechanical applications. You will collaborate closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure the flywheel meets performance and safety specifications. Daily tasks often involve overseeing prototype development, troubleshooting issues during testing, and working with production teams to integrate flywheels into larger mechanical systems. Effective communication and problem-solving skills are key to succeeding in this collaborative and dynamic role.

Job description

Banyan Software is the best permanent home for software businesses that serve specialized industries, their employees, and their customers. With a buy-grow-and-hold-for-life approach and a permanent capital base, Banyan acquires and grows companies worldwide, honoring founder legacies and helping portfolio companies modernize through shared AI expertise and operational discipline. Founded in 2016, Banyan operates more than 120 portfolio companies across North and South America, Europe, and APAC, and has appeared on the Inc. 5000 list for six consecutive years. The Banyan Software Foundation, endowed with $100 million in Banyan stock, leverages technology to build a greener and more equitable world.
The Role
We are seeking an EST based Growth Marketing Lead to own how people find Teamup, the calendar trusted by over 5 million users that helps
businesses organize schedules, resources and teams for efficient operations at any scale, and what happens after they sign up. You own the self-serve funnel end to end: the viral loops inside the product, the AI onboarding experience that activates every new customer, search in all its new forms, on-site conversion, and lifecycle email. This is a doer role on a flat team.
The Opportunity
• 5 million monthly active users and a product that spreads by being shared: every
calendar invite is distribution, and the loops are proven and ready to scale
• Own the flywheel end to end: traffic, signup, activation, and self-serve conversion
• A flat organization of doers where your experiments ship, working directly with design,
engineering, and the support team that talks with our customers every day
Responsibilities
• Build and amplify the in-product viral loops and word-of-mouth engine with design and
engineering
• Lead the AI onboarding build
• Own lifecycle email from signup through upgrade
• Grow organic acquisition across SEO, GEO, and AEO so Teamup is findable wherever
people and AI assistants look for scheduling
• Drive information architecture and on-site conversion in partnership with design and
content
• Build upmarket intent: you figure out where bigger buyers evaluate and make Teamup
present there
• Own the numbers: signups, activation rate, and self-serve free-to-paid conversion
Requirements
• 5+ years in growth or lifecycle marketing at a product-led SaaS company
• You have led in-product viral loops and self-serve conversion work, with results you can
show
• Hands-on SEO depth plus a working grasp of how AI-driven search is changing
discovery
• Fluent in the tools and the data: analytics, experimentation, email platforms, light
HTML/CSS, and AI tools in daily use
• Experience partnering with design and engineering to ship growth work inside the
product, not just around it
Who You Are
• You build with AI every day because you want to, and you treat the funnel like a product
you own
• You would rather run ten small experiments than one big campaign, and you measure
everything you ship
The expected base salary is: $135,000 USD excluding annual bonus. Salary is based on a number of factors including market conditions, location and may vary depending on job-related skills and experience.
