What is a fly in fly out offshore job?

Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) Offshore jobs refer to positions where employees are flown to remote offshore locations, such as oil rigs or mining sites, to work for a set period (often several weeks), followed by a period of leave at home. This rotation allows workers to live at home when not on shift, rather than relocating permanently. FIFO offshore roles can include engineers, operators, medics, chefs, and more. These jobs often require long hours and extended time away from family, but they typically offer competitive salaries and benefits due to the remote and demanding nature of the work.

What are the typical work schedules and living conditions for fly in fly out offshore roles?

FIFO offshore roles usually operate on a rotational schedule, such as two weeks on and two weeks off, though variations exist depending on the employer and project location. While on site, employees live in purpose-built accommodations that provide meals, laundry, and recreational facilities. The work environment is highly structured, with long shifts and strict safety protocols, but there are ample opportunities to build camaraderie among team members. Many find the extended time off between rotations to be a significant perk, while others may find the remote living conditions and time away from family challenging.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fly in fly out offshore worker?

To thrive as a Fly In Fly Out Offshore worker, you generally need specialized technical skills relevant to your trade (such as drilling, engineering, or rig operations), relevant safety certifications (like BOSIET or HUET), and a strong physical fitness level. Familiarity with offshore safety protocols, heavy machinery, and digital reporting systems is often required. Adaptability, teamwork, and resilience are essential soft skills due to the unique challenges of remote and extended shifts. These skills and certifications are vital to ensure operational safety, efficiency, and well-being in high-risk, isolated offshore environments.

What is the difference between Fly In Fly Out Offshore vs Fly In Fly Out Onshore?

Reform Physical Therapy is hiring for a full-time physical therapist at our Topsham, Brunswick, South Portland, and Eliot clinics. Reform Physical Therapy is a privately owned practice that treats solely in a one-on-one setting. As a growing company, Reform is in search of energetic and easygoing therapists that are looking to offer their patients the best quality care in a low-pressure, encouraging, and fun environment. Our ideal candidate will be prideful in providing high-quality care, work well within a team, and represent Reform at infrequent community events.

At Reform, work-life balance is held in high regard. With abundant paid vacation time, major holidays off, and paid sick time, Reform's employees can find a balance that allows them to offer the best care possible to patients while not missing out on their own lives. At Reform, we understand that life happensโ€ฆwhich is why we encourage employees to use their earned time and take the breaks from work they need. In addition to the work-life balance, we also encourage actual fun within the workspace. This can manifest itself in many ways, from celebrating employee birthdays, to holiday parties, to practice-wide competitionsโ€ฆwe aim to ensure that your time at the office is not ALL for work. Sneaking fun into the work week helps it fly by, in our opinion.

Reform prioritizes a hands-on manual and functional therapy approach to provide patients with the care they need to truly recover, not just mask the symptoms for a short period. Therapists' daily schedules are manageable, and patients are never double booked which allows ample time for documentation and provider communication.

The actual clinics of Reform are bright and open, and do not have the gym or doctor's โ€˜office' feeling. The clinics are designed to provide sufficient open space for exercising/stretching while also offering private rooms for those that prefer privacy. Therapists typically have their own 'space' within the clinic so that there is no need to move your belongings from area to area.
