What is a Fly In Fly Out Mining job?

A Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) mining job is a work arrangement where employees travel to remote mine sites for a set period, usually working long shifts, before flying back home for their scheduled time off. These jobs are common in the mining industry, where operations are located far from major cities. Companies typically provide flights, accommodation, and meals while workers are on-site. FIFO roles can be demanding due to long hours and time away from family, but they often offer competitive salaries and benefits.

While the hours can be long and physically demanding, many find the structured roster allows for substantial time off between rotations. It's important to be prepared for communal living and the remote nature of mining sites, but these arrangements are designed to support workers’ comfort and well-being. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong hands-on experience with PLC systems
  • Experience with or ability to work in Ignition environments
  • Proven ability to independently execute commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting in live environments
