Job description

Industrial Millwright

Day Shift | Weekdays + Saturday Coverage | Non-Union | $40 - $48 / per hour

We are currently hiring two Industrial Millwrights to support production and facility equipment within a fast-paced meat processing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous operations by minimizing downtime, maintaining food-safe equipment, and supporting production targets while complying with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.

A new facility is scheduled to go live in August. In the interim, the focus will be on maintaining and optimizing existing machinery to ensure peak performance and a smooth transition.

Schedule

  • Day Shift
  • Weekdays: Preventative maintenance & emergency production repairs
  • Saturday Coverage: Larger scheduled repairs and major mechanical work
  • Non-union position

What You’ll Do

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment including conveyors, grinders, mixers, slicers, packaging machinery, refrigeration components, and processing systems
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues
  • Align, adjust, and calibrate equipment to meet operational and food-safety standards
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns during production
  • Assist with equipment installations, line changes, and plant modifications

Food Safety & Sanitation

  • Ensure all maintenance work meets food safety, sanitation, and HACCP requirements
  • Use food-grade lubricants, materials, and approved repair methods
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with sanitation schedules to avoid contamination
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas within production zones

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), lock-out/tag-out procedures, and plant safety policies
  • Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or equipment risks
  • Use appropriate PPE at all times and promote a strong safety culture

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and preventative maintenance records
  • Provide input into maintenance planning, spare parts inventory, and equipment upgrades
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to reliability, efficiency, and safety
  • Participate in shutdowns, scheduled maintenance, and emergency repairs as required

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with production, sanitation, quality, and supervisory teams
  • Provide guidance to operators on proper equipment use and basic troubleshooting

What We’re Looking For

Education & Experience

  • Journeyperson Industrial Millwright certificate (433A)
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in manufacturing or food processing
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills in high-speed production settings
  • Working knowledge of conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and manuals
  • Strong understanding of lock-out/tag-out and safe work practices
