Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Coal Mining Engineer to oversee and coordinate mining operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience with heavy equipment, pipeline systems, and construction site management. This role involves working closely with excavation teams, operating machinery, and implementing best practices in accordance with OSHA regulations. The Coal Mining Engineer will play a vital role in optimizing mining processes while maintaining a safe working environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, optimize, and implement coal mining plans, including pit layout, stripping and mining sequence, waste dump planning, haulage system design, and slope stability solutions, ensuring compliance with Canadian mining safety regulations and environmental standards (e.g., soil and water conservation, dust control).
  • Provide on-site technical guidance for mining operations, addressing technical challenges such as slope stability, stripping ratio optimization, and equipment adaptation, ensuring safe and efficient production.
  • Conduct geological surveys and mining condition analyses, monitor pit progress, stripping volumes, and coal recovery rates, and prepare technical reports, operational records, and progress analyses in English.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (safety, geology, equipment maintenance, environmental, etc.) to coordinate all stages of mining operations (stripping, mining, dumping, transportation), driving process optimization and cost control.
  • Participate in safety training and emergency response planning, focusing on slope failure, blasting safety (if applicable), and safe equipment coordination, ensuring all operations comply with Canadian Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and company policies.
  • Stay updated on the latest technologies and trends in coal mining (e.g., intelligent mining equipment, sustainable mining technologies), providing recommendations for innovation and optimization.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mining Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in coal mining operations, with strong expertise in mine design, on-site technical management, and core safety procedures.
  • Mandarin speaker
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing), able to work independently in an English-speaking environment, including preparing technical documents, leading meetings, and communicating with international teams.
  • Familiar with mining equipment (e.g., excavators, mining trucks, loaders, bulldozers), mining processes, and safety standards.
  • Experience with mining design software (e.g., Surpac, MineSight) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, responsibility, and teamwork ability.
