Description The City of Aiken is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Public Services Department. Examples of Duties Operates a variety of heavy equipment Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and policies of the City of Aiken Safe operation of garbage truck, knuckle boom loader, sweeper, roll off truck, leaf vacuum and other heavy equipment Maintains equipment in good operating condition Reports required maintenance as needed Prepares required documentation Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent Minimum Commercial driver's license (CDL) Class B in good standing Ability to read maps and cope with outdoor weather conditions Written and verbal communication skills Physical capabilities of exiting and re-entry of equipment when necessary Ability to retrieve full roll carts and roll them to the street Previous driving experience (preferred) Supplemental Information This position is subject to a criminal background check for any convictions directly related to its duties and responsibilities.
