Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assembles, installs, repairs gas, water or other liquid, air and fire sprinkler piping systems, including heaters, sanitary systems, using power cutting and threading machines and a variety of Pipefitter’s tools.

  • Performs gas welding, brazing and soldering of mild steel, stainless steel (s/s), copper alloys, cast iron, cast steel and other alloys that are present at Homasote.

  • Sets up and uses welding machines, oxy / acetylene gas welding/burning rigs, pipe threader (manual or electric), hand & floor mounted grinders.

  • Determines the size, length, different fittings needed to get from point ’a’ to point ‘b’.

  • Threads, flanges, sweats, glues or uses compression fittings for steel, s/s, pvc, cpvc, cast iron, cast steel or any pipe present as needed at Homasote from size 1/8” to 12”.

  • Provides proper support and hangs any piping present at Homasote.

  • Trouble shoots, maintains and repairs our wet and dry fire system, most hydraulic, pneumatic or vacuum situations that occur, and the company’s sanitary sewer systems.

  • Has knowledge of the Homasote Backwater (process water) system, surge water system, well water systems, storm drainage system and our city water system.

  • Establishes a safe working condition for him while using the proper lock-out/tag-out procedures, and using the company supplied p-p-e items.

  • Able to safely operate all shop transportation vehicles (tow motor, road-runner, high reach)

  • Is subject to 24 hour call.

  • Is required to perform maintenance work.

  • Maintains work area and equipment in clean and orderly condition.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

  • 1 years experience in a manufacturing or factory environment a plus
