Overview

Do you have a flair for technical writing and a drive to connect with and inspire the developer community? Combine your love for writing with your interest in technology by creating documentation for the ArcGIS Maps SDKs. We're seeking tech-savvy individuals who can empower and educate our users to build cutting-edge mobile and desktop applications. In this role, you'll promote best development practices by writing SDK guides, end-to-end tutorials, API references, and engaging blog content.

Esri has a Relocation Assistance Program and can provide support with relocating to the Portland, OR area for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Dive into the world of ArcGIS Maps SDKs and empower developers to craft amazing geospatial apps for desktop and mobile
  • Tell the story behind the tech; create clear, helpful guides, tutorials, and API documentation that make complex concepts easy to understand
  • Test new features to ensure new workflows and endpoints are accurately represented for all supported versions and products
  • Triage and address customer reported documentation issues
  • Share the love! Connect with our community through blogs, videos, and social media to keep them informed and inspired
  • Be the face of the product and help users succeed by supporting them at conferences and in online forums

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with SDKs and competence with at least one of the Native Maps SDK programming languages - Swift, Kotlin, Flutter, .NET, or Qt
  • Ability to pick up new tech concepts quickly; break down complex API into clear, concise, and compelling stories and effectively communicate them
  • Solid understanding of Git and an ability to learn and work with industry-standard content management tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, computer science, or a related field

Recommended Qualifications

  • Experience with technical writing and/or blog content
  • Master's degree in GIS, computer science, or a related field
