What is a Flutter developer?

Flutter Developers are software engineers who specialize in building cross-platform mobile, web, and desktop applications using the Flutter framework. Flutter, created by Google, allows developers to write code in the Dart programming language and deploy it on multiple platforms with a single codebase. These developers are skilled in UI/UX design, state management, and integrating native device features. Their work helps businesses create high-performance, visually appealing apps efficiently and cost-effectively.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Flutter developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Flutter Developer, you need strong proficiency in Dart programming, UI/UX design principles, and experience building cross-platform mobile applications, typically supported by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with tools like Android Studio, Xcode, version control systems (e.g., Git), and knowledge of RESTful APIs are commonly required. Creative problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective communication help developers collaborate and deliver polished products. These skills ensure the creation of high-performance, maintainable applications that meet both user needs and business goals.

What are some common challenges Flutter developers face when working on cross-platform mobile apps?

Integrating native device features or third-party SDKs may require writing platform-specific code using platform channels, which can add complexity. Our platform is trusted by hundreds of financial institutions, including SMA managers, fund managers, broker-dealers, and other market participants, to manage over $1 trillion in assets. We're committed to creative problem-solving, excellent service, and a collaborative culture rooted in strong values, offering you the opportunity to grow your skills and shape your career.
What You'll Do
Application Developers at Investortools design and build application functionality through technical analysis, testing, and debugging within our existing software suite, leveraging a robust library of internally developed tools. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy solving complex analytical problems and delivering scalable, high-impact solutions for end users. You will translate user and business requirements into well-structured technical solutions, evaluate design options, and ensure outcomes are reliable and efficient.
In this role, clear and precise communication is essential, as you will regularly explain complex system behavior, design decisions, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences. As a hands-on contributor in a fast-paced environment, you will collaborate closely with client services, software developers, and other team members to design, test, and refine solutions.
Responsibilities
  • Learn and develop proficiency in Investortools' industry-leading software platform, with a focus on content, controls, information architecture, and system behavior.
  • Build a strong understanding of fixed-income investing and how clients leverage technology to support investment workflows.
  • Analyze complex technical and analytical problems to develop effective, scalable solutions.
  • Translate client and business requirements into clear technical designs and well-structured implementations.
  • Create concise project proposals and documentation that accurately capture requirements and solution approaches.
  • Design, build, and deliver customized client solutions using internally developed tools.
  • Collaborate closely with analysts, software developers, internal engineering teams, and client stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
  • Communicate complex concepts clearly through written documentation, interactive demonstrations, and direct collaboration.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Science, Business, Finance, Economics, Math, Engineering, or similar fields.
  • Desire to learn and support a robust software suite
  • Able to work collaboratively across disciplines with excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
  • Enjoy a rapid-paced iterative design and development process.
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure, manage projects, and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality results.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Why Investortools?
At Investortools, you will have the opportunity to partner with some of the largest and most respected financial firms in the world. We work primarily with professionals in investment management, such as portfolio managers, credit analysts, and traders, to deliver solutions that have an impact.
We are a family-owned company built on Christian principles that takes a long-term perspective in service to our clients. We value a healthy work life balance and foster a culture of mutual respect, high ethical standards, and true collaboration.
What we offer
  • Competitive Compensation: Estimated range of $60k - $80k based on experience.
  • Generous Time Off: 17 days of PTO per year, plus 10 paid holidays.
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance with multiple deductible options and employer contributions.
  • Health Savings Account (HSA): Company-funded HSA plans, based on coverage level and IRS contribution limits.
  • Financial Security: Company-paid life insurance and both short- and long-term disability insurance.
  • Optional Coverage: Voluntary accident and critical illness insurance available.
  • Supportive Programs: Employee Assistance Program and a Wellness program to support your well-being.
  • Retirement Savings: 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Perks: Enjoy daily lunch provided on-site.

At Investortools, your contributions truly matter. The work is challenging, engaging, and meaningful. Apply now and let's talk about what we can accomplish together.
This is an exempt position anticipated to be between $60,000 - $80,000 annual salary based on experience and knowledge shown in the interview process.
