Non-Potable Water Distribution • Flushing Operations • Team Lead • Field & Technical
4-Month Contract • Possible conversion to full-time if positions are available

Pay: $17.50 per hour
We're looking for an experienced Lead Flushing Technician to oversee and perform specialized flushing operations and water quality monitoring on a non-potable irrigation water distribution system. In this lead role, you'll guide a team of flushing technicians, manage work order tracking, implement flushing plans, and serve as the technical resource for distribution system operations. This is a 4-month contract with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time role for the right candidate.
What you'll do
- Lead and direct flushing technicians in daily field operations across the non-potable water distribution system
- Operate valves, hydrants, and blow-offs to perform flushing techniques that restore and maintain water quality
- Review utility distribution maps to determine water source, flow, valve locations, and optimal flushing points
- Monitor water quality using field test equipment and ensure QA/QC procedures are followed
- Implement flushing plans using automated technologies including Cityworks and GIS-based tracking tools
- Determine operational status of infrastructure and document repair needs for work order generation
- Prepare and review written and electronic field data records and customer complaint reports
- Schedule, track, and ensure completion of preventive and corrective maintenance flushing activities
- Collect and evaluate historical water quality data and trends
- Maintain inventory of parts and tools for flushing operations
- Perform other related duties as assigned
What you need
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Skilled utilities field experience with water delivery systems, water quality monitoring, and flushing operations
- Ability to operate water distribution infrastructure - valves, fire hydrants, and blow-offs
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plats, maps, aerial photos, and diagrams
- Proficiency with computer applications for documentation, tracking, and reporting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for public and agency interactions
- Availability for varied schedules including emergency and disaster situations
Nice to have
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience in utilities or field operations
- Experience with GIS mapping, Cityworks, or similar flushing tracking technologies
- Water quality monitoring or distribution system inspection experience
