Description
Forest Lawn is seeking dynamic and creative Florists to be responsible for the preparation and designing of any style of flowers for viewing rooms, services, and outside deliveries.
The Florist at Forest Lawn participates in all activities of the Flower Shop Design Room. This role is responsible for ordering, preparing, and designing any style of flowers for viewing rooms, services, flower placements, community events and outside deliveries. They will also meet with Client Families to discuss floral arrangements.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Make flower arrangements for viewing rooms, services, outside deliveries, and placements.
  • Demonstrate respect to customer preference and value of materials.
  • Maintain the mortuary, public displays, and church areas with flowers and plants
  • Process flowers and supplies and make deliveries as needed.
  • Order flowers, plants and supplies needed in the design room.
  • Use their sense of style to develop aesthetically pleasing designs. Determine the type of arrangement desired, the occasion, and the date, time, and location for delivery.
  • Maintain mortuary, public display, and church areas with flowers and plants.
  • Purchase flowers and other products from wholesalers and suppliers to ensure the flower shop maintains an adequate supply to meet department's needs.
  • Answer telephones, take orders, understand what a customer is looking for, explain options, and to ensure high-quality flowers and service.
  • Directly confer on orders with Flower Shop Representatives and client families.
  • Coordinate orders and work-board to meet time lines. Provide excellent organizational skills to ensure that orders are completed on time.
  • Assist and back up Florist Helpers, and Flower Shop Representatives, processing flower and making deliveries or assisting in the office.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and abide by all safety standards. Attend all safety and SDS meetings.
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment at all times.
  • Work with integrity and ethics; uphold the organizational values; Treat others with respect.
  • Manage difficult or emotional customer situations; promptly responds to customer needs.

Requirements
  • Must be available to work weekends and all holidays.
  • Minimum of 5 years of floral design experience.
  • Knowledge of color harmony, flowers and design are required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Read, write and speak English.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Valid California Driver's License.
  • Comfortable standing for long periods at a time.
  • Must be able to work on-site.
