Floral event designers work closely with clients to develop a cohesive aesthetic, selecting blooms, colors, and styles that match the event's theme and setting. Their responsibilities often include conceptualizing designs, sourcing flowers, setting up arrangements on-site, and ensuring everything looks fresh and beautiful throughout the event. Job description

Private Floral and Landscape Company is in need of a Experienced Commercial Floral and Event Manager.

Location: Long Island City, Queens, NY — with regular client meetings and event sites throughout Manhattan and the NYC metro area

The Role

We're looking for a Commercial Floral & Event Manager to take ownership of our corporate floral, event, and plant rental business from start to finish.

This is a hands-on commercial role. You'll develop proposals, meet with clients, close business, coordinate production, oversee events, and manage the recurring accounts that make up our year-round commercial portfolio.

You should be comfortable taking a client's ideas, priorities, and budget and turning them into a clear proposal, a profitable job, and a finished installation that delivers on what was promised.

Our clients include property managers, facilities directors, corporate event teams, hospitality operators, and production companies. Many already rely on us for floral, plantscaping, and holiday décor. The right person will understand both the creative and commercial sides of the business — including what a design will cost to produce and how to price it appropriately.

Plant Rentals

Plant rentals are an important part of this position. We provide short-term greenery and specimen plants for film and television productions, brand activations, music festivals, sponsored public events, and other commercial projects.

These jobs often come together quickly and require strong organization, communication, and logistical execution. They can also be an excellent entry point for developing long-term client relationships.

What You'll Do
  • Develop proposals and budgets: Create floral and plant rental proposals, recipes, budgets, and presentations. Understand cost of goods, labor, design time, delivery, and installation before pricing a job.

  • Lead client relationships: Conduct client meetings, consultations, site visits, and presentations. Translate ideas and requirements into solutions that are creative, practical, and financially sound.

  • Manage leads and client requests: Respond to incoming inquiries, qualify opportunities, and coordinate with our product and design specialists when a request requires additional expertise.

  • Produce corporate events: Manage floral production and installation for galas, brand activations, holiday parties, building openings, tenant events, and other corporate functions from contract through breakdown.

  • Manage plant rental projects: Quote and coordinate short-term plant rentals for film and television, brand activations, festivals, and public events. Oversee inventory, holds, delivery schedules, placement, swaps, and returns.

  • Manage recurring accounts: Oversee weekly and monthly corporate programs, including lobby installations, executive offices, reception areas, amenity spaces, and hospitality accounts. Manage seasonal changes, quality control, and renewals.

  • Grow existing business: Identify opportunities to expand relationships across floral, plantscaping, plant rentals, and holiday décor. Develop existing accounts while pursuing new commercial opportunities.

  • Develop new business: Build relationships with prospective clients and turn new opportunities into long-term accounts. A one-time event or plant rental should be viewed as an opportunity to develop a larger relationship.

  • Protect profitability: Monitor cost of goods, labor, design time, delivery, and installation costs throughout each project. Identify and address budget issues before they become problems.

  • Manage NYC logistics: Coordinate certificates of insurance, building access, loading docks, freight elevators, load-in windows, after-hours access, and union requirements. Understand that successful event production in New York depends as much on logistics as it does on design.

  • Coordinate with internal teams: Work closely with our design, production, and installation teams to ensure every project has clear specifications, realistic timelines, and the resources required for successful execution.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in corporate floral sales/account management, floral event production, event sales, event production, plant rental, or a related field.

  • Experience working in a luxury, design-driven, hospitality, or high-touch service environment is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop proposals, build budgets, present to clients, and close business.

  • Strong understanding of cut flowers and live plant material, including product selection, durability, seasonality, and production requirements.

  • Ability to understand the true cost of producing a design and price work accordingly.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Excellent communication and client-service skills.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Ability to work flexible event schedules, including early-morning installations, evening breakdowns, and occasional weekends.

  • Ability to lift 30+ lbs. and remain on your feet during installations and event production.

Skills & Experience That Set You Apart
  • Established relationships with NYC property managers, facilities directors, corporate event planners, hotel teams, hospitality groups, or commercial real estate clients.

  • Existing relationships with NYC film and television production companies, art departments, set decorators, production designers, or related buyers.

  • Experience selling floral décor or managing commercial floral accounts.

  • Interior plantscaping or commercial plant account experience.

  • Experience selling multiple services into the same account and identifying opportunities across floral, plantscaping, plant rentals, and holiday décor.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a strong plus, particularly when working with our design and installation teams.
