Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for planning complex projects and housing developments? ATCO is seeking a Project Manager to join our Permanent Modular Construction (PMC) team. This is your opportunity to support the development of housing and shelter projects across Canada and beyond, this is an in-office role based in Calgary, Alberta.

Reporting to the Manager, Preconstruction Services, the Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of the planning, scoping and estimating of a specific project or proposal. In this role you will work closely with the Business Development team to deliver technically strong, well planned and cost-effective proposals for PMC opportunities and convert them into awarded contracts.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Business Development Managers to understand project and client needs and limitations.

  • Plan the opportunity response approach by establishing internal responsibilities and delivery timelines.

  • Attend pre-bid site visits as required.

  • Develop and issue Request for Proposal documents for both internal departments and external subcontractors and consultants (Scope of Work, Schedule, etc.).

  • Develop and issue Division of Responsibility documents.

  • Tender all site installation scopes including bid analysis and carry/award recommendations.

  • Complete scope gap analysis to eliminate missed scope or scope overlap.

  • Collect all project pricing and compile the total project estimate for review and submission.

  • Develop conceptual project schedules (MS Project or Primavera) for bid submission and revision as required at award.

  • Build construction estimates from the ground up based on conceptual project floor plans.

  • Review and provide comments on construction contracts.

  • Upon project award, complete all internal project startup documents and handover to the Project Execution Team.

  • Champion a culture of safety and quality in compliance with ATCO's HSE policies and procedures.

  • This role faces both internally and externally, ensuring a positive client experience from start to finish.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and other tasks assigned.

Who You Are: 

  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical diploma, PEng, CET, CTech, PTech, or RET Preferred. Site Superintendents or Construction Managers with strong experience in modular construction may be considered.

  • 5-10 years of progressive experience in construction project management or coordination with a proven record of delivering large building projects in both urban and rural settings.

  • Design Build or construction management experience with knowledge of managing consultant teams is preferred 

  • Familiarity with contract negotiations, estimating, scheduling and financial planning of design-build projects over $10 million dollars.

  • Familiarity with permitting processes (SPA/DP, BP, trades, etc.) and National Building Code.

  • Experience working in Master Format Division structure for cost coding and estimating.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership, building rapport and negotiation skills.

  • Proficient in MS Project, MS Office, SharePoint, Teams, Procore, 

  • Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, presentation and problem-solving skills.

  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast paced environment.

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills at multiple levels: client/owner representative, construction site.

  • Comfortable with occasional travel to remote project sites.
