Job description

Floor Technician Job Summary:
We are looking to hire an energetic floor tech to keep our terminal and office floors clean on our 3rd shift schedule from 10:00pm to 6:30am at MCO - Orlando International Airport. The floor tech will be responsible for the maintenance of all floor areas, and for sustaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. You will remove spots from carpets, perform bonnet and extraction carpet cleaning, dispose of trash, and assist with hazardous waste collection. You will operate floor sweepers, scrubbers (walk behind and push) use buffers, strippers, canister vacuum cleaners, and shop vacuums, and you will wear adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) when working with chemicals and equipment. You will help maintain and clean equipment at the end of each shift.
To be successful in this role you will protect fellow team members and visitors by keeping floors free from harmful microorganisms, and by being mindful of slip, trip and fall hazards. Preferred candidates are motivated, meticulous, and able to work with numerous interruptions.
Floor Technician Responsibilities:
  • Cleaning offices, hallways, public areas, and other areas.
  • Operate floor scrubber and carpet extractor equipment.
  • Cleaning, dusting, mopping, stripping, and waxing different floor types, i.e. (Tile, Terrazzo)
  • Carpet cleaning, shampooing, bonnet cleaning, and hot water extraction.
  • Removing stains or debris from floors using the appropriate cleaning tools and products.
  • Measuring cleaning chemicals correctly along with operating chemical dispensing units.
  • Labeling chemicals correctly.
  • Cleaning, maintaining, and storing equipment and PPE proficiently.
  • Replenishing cleaning and maintenance supplies as needed in designated areas.
  • Assisting in moving furniture and other heavy items for comprehensive floor cleaning
  • Always follow safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Reporting maintenance issues to the supervisor.
  • Assisting with the hazardous waste collection as requested by the supervisor.
Floor Tech Requirements:
  • High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent preferred.
  • English Language is required for this position.
  • Floor maintenance experience with Buffer, Waxer, Strippers, Canister vacuum cleaners, and Shop vacuums.
  • Completion of on-the-job training.
  • Undeterred by exposure to hazardous chemicals, bodily fluids, and communicable and infectious diseases.
  • Resilient to noise.
  • Physically agile
