Organization

The Rescue Mission Alliance (RMA) is a Christian non-profit organization that has been serving the less fortunate in Southern California through emergency and long-term rehabilitation services since 1972. RMA partners with local churches to meet the spiritual needs of the people we serve. The Oxnard Bargain Center provides revenue to support to the Ventura County Rescue Mission drug and alcohol recovery program.

Summary

The Floor Associate / Cashier reports directly to the Thrift Store Supervisor, but may get direction from the leads. The Floor Associate / Cashier will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of the sales floor. This is a regular, part-time, non-exempt position located in Oxnard, California. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime and benefits according to applicable guidelines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Put new merchandise (bric and brac and accessories) out on the floor and clean the shelves/floor of items that do not belong there.
  • Organize existing shoes by color; bring out new shoes and organize on the floor.
  • Sort clothes coming from production by size and color before putting out on floor.
  • Organize the entire floor; remove all empty hangers at the end of the day in preparation for the next day.
  • Pull clothing, accessories, and bric and brac as instructed.
  • Do markdowns of clothing, accessories, and bric and brac as instructed.
  • Clean bathrooms as needed.
  • Assist customers as needed.
  • Greet and assist customers on sales floor.
  • Ring up transactions and wrap or bag purchases.
  • Keep workstation clean and orderly at all times.
  • Be alert for shoplifters and price tampering.
  • Keep display cases neat and full of merchandise.
  • Display and rotate jewelry.
  • Call for a second cashier when assistance is needed.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Help donors with donations as needed.
  • Follow all policies and procedures.
  • Know and adhere to RMA and store policies and procedures.
  • Answer telephone and use paging system.
  • Be familiar with basic donation procedures and RMA directory extensions.
  • Promote RMA Safety Program in alignment with the Injury and Illness Prevention

Program (IIPP) and model safe work practices.
