Job Summary: The Floater will be responsible for properly executing the scope of work at the location they are servicing, which includes overall floor maintenance of hard surfaces and carpet (including waxing, buffing, spot cleaning, extraction, deep cleaning restrooms and grouts, etc). The Floater provides superior cleaning services onsite at client locations under limited supervision and works in a collaborative relationship with other Building Maintenance team members. The Floater is a representative and interacts with customers, store personnel and the public in a respectful and friendly manner. It will be essential that the Floater supports and integrates Sizemore's core values of Flexibility, Improvement, Reliability, Safety and Teamwork into the daily performance of assigned responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Will cover multiple locations within designated district
  • Routinely refers to the daily task list that is located at each location the company services to ensure daily tasks are being completed in accordance to customer requirements and expectations when covering locations
  • Performs assignments according to company schedule and as expected by clients.
  • Performs all general required tasks as directed by Supervisor.
  • Handles hard floor care, including routine sweeping, mopping (dry and damp), scrubbing, and buffing on hard surfaces; spot clean as needed.
  • Provides carpet maintenance, including but not limited to vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting and extracting carpets; spot clean as needed.
  • Provides other cleaning services and detail work, such as waxing, dusting, restroom cleaning, trash removal, window cleaning, and other area cleaning, including but not limited to deli and bakery areas, restaurant or café areas, offices, and other offstage areas located at the store and included in the scope of work.
  • Reports to work as scheduled and on time, and accurately reports time worked through the phone timekeeping systems.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to work on time for scheduled shift
  • Ensures schedule is being followed to prevent budget overages.
  • Addresses cleaning or scope concerns with onsite store manager as needed or directed.
  • Works as a team to with other Carlson staff members onsite to properly execute customer scope of work on a daily basis
  • Operates all floor care machines and cleaning products safely and in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
  • Keeps storage area organizing and supplied, and requests needed products through supervisor.
  • Follows all safety requirements and procedures at all times.
  • Follows all company policies, including the anti-harassment policy.
  • Interacts respectfully with customers and personnel.
  • Checks that all equipment is in working order and that all necessary materials and equipment are available, including safety signs, tapes, and cones, and immediately informs supervisor of any equipment problems or shortages.
  • Follows instructions on specific cleaning projects completed each shift.
  • Reports all work-related injuries to supervisor on the date of occurrence.
  • Immediately reports all falls or other injuries (including those of store customers and personnel) to supervisor and to any onsite store manager.
  • Reports store damage to supervisor immediately and cleans up as needed.
  • After receiving training on floor waxing and products, the Lead technician assumes sole responsibility for applying wax.
  • Provides guidance on floor care and cleaning procedures to less-experienced Floor Care Technicians as needed.
  • Assists with other duties periodically, including floor stripping.
  • Drives a culture of constant improvement, identifying and implementing changes to increase productivity and efficiency of service.
  • Enforces Sizemore's policies and procedures as needed.
  • Additional duties assigned, as necessary.

Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or recipient of GED
  • Some cleaning experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out simple instructions.
  • Ability to engage in respectful communications with coworkers, customers and store personnel.
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment.

Working Conditions:
  • The work environment is generally a climate-controlled interior environment with little or no natural light, involving exposure to a variety of cleaning products, with work performed at night and/or during early morning hours.
  • Uses caution in walking over wet surfaces during cleaning.
  • Ability to regularly lift 45 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull floor cleaning equipment over concrete, tile and carpeted floors.
  • Must possess sufficient physical strength, ability and stamina to perform a variety of janitorial tasks related to care of floors.
  • Ability to work with a variety of cleaning products.
  • Ability to work night shift and/or very early morning hours as dictated by the needs of the position including holidays.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision,depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
