Company Overview

Float is a venture-backed aerospace startup developing next-generation hydrogen-powered airships to revolutionize long-distance cargo transport. Our vision is to dramatically reduce the cost and carbon footprint of logistics while unlocking a new era of aerial mobility.

Role Overview

We are seeking a deeply technical and visionary Co-Founder to lead engineering and product development. You will be responsible for developing core flight systems, prototyping, managing vendor integration, and building a world-class engineering team. You will play a central role in defining the future of our company.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design, prototyping, and validation of Float's hydrogen airship platform.
  • Develop and test propulsion, control, and autonomy systems.
  • Work hands-on with early-stage flight hardware and software.
  • Recruit and manage a top-tier engineering team.
  • Collaborate on company vision, product roadmap, and fundraising strategy.
  • Interface with partners, investors, and regulatory bodies (FAA, DoT, etc.).
Ideal Background
  • 5+ years in aerospace, systems engineering, or robotics (preferably at SpaceX, Hyperloop, Boom, etc.).
  • Strong background in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering.
  • Experience with autonomous systems, avionics, or hydrogen fuel systems is a plus.
  • Previous startup or founder experience highly desirable.
  • Located in or willing to relocate to Southern California.
Compensation

This is a co-founder role with significant equity ownership. Salary is flexible for the right candidate.
