Job description

Flippo Construction Company, Inc. is growing and seeking experienced Carpenters to join our team. The Carpenter is responsible for building and installing forms for heavy civil construction projects to include bridges, retaining walls, columns, decks, catch basins, etc. You will work on project sites in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland. This position reports to the Foreman.
Responsibilities:
  • Build and install forms for vertical heavy civil construction projects to include bridges, retaining walls, and columns.
  • Pour and finish concrete
  • Hand grading and backfilling
  • Use basic hand tools used in the carpentry trade
  • Perform manual labor related tasks in support of the project.
  • Attend all required meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work will be performed in outdoor environmental conditions.
  • Will be required to work Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays when needed.

Requirements
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience as a form Carpenter for vertical construction projects.
  • Must possess own tools used in the carpentry trade and know how to use them.
  • Ability to read and use a measuring tape and calculate simple math (addition and subtraction)
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans
  • Ability to negotiate rough terrain and climb in and out of manholes, trenches, and other enclosed spaces.
  • Ability to carry tools, equipment, or materials up to 95 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, climb, or walk.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Flippo's Operational services consists of Heavy Construction, including Bridges, Concrete Structures, Roadway and Site Work. We also provide utility installation, repairs, and long-term service/maintenance contracts for the major utility providers in the Washington Metropolitan area.
