Kalitta Charters II specializes in scheduled and on-demand narrow-body freighter operations. In 2003, aviator and NHRA World Champion, Doug Kalitta, set out to provide a safe and reliable solution to a complex logistics problem. This problem entailed moving freight across the Americas for our customers… overnight!


Job Summary:

Maintenance controllers are the liaison for all Pilots, Flight Engineers, and Mechanics for any maintenance or equipment needed for an aircraft. Maintenance controllers will be able to step into multiple rolls when needed including provide full service to an Aircraft. The Maintenance Control facility is located at Kalitta Charters II main base at Willow Run Airport, Ypsilanti, Ml.


Functions/Responsibilities

  • Maintain a continuous liaison with all outstation maintenance facilities, ensuring timely reporting of current total aircraft times, and notable information as it pertains to inspections, time changes, work requests, etc.
  • Provides technical assistance to Kalitta Charters II maintenance employees and contract agencies.
  • Authorizes, assigns and maintains a daily log of MEL, CDL and carry over controlled items. Reviews these on a daily basis to ensure parts (if needed) or technical assistance will be available in order to make repairs in a reliable and timely fashion. Ensure all troubleshooting is being logged.
  • De-brief layover flight crews or ride on mechanic at the end of the day flying.
  • Coordinate with Flight Operations, the movement of aircraft system wide as it pertains to maintenance scheduling activities, maintenance actions and required down times.
  • Approve minor work at non-maintenance stations.
  • Coordinates with the Manager of Maintenance Control, all aspects of maintenance performed on Kalitta Charters II aircraft on a daily basis via verbal reports, electronic means (i.e. turnovers or Deferred Maintenance Item reports), or any means requested of the Director of Maintenance.
  • Schedule the accomplishment of required maintenance activities to comply with the company’s requirements.
  • Track approved Advisory Notices for compliance within given period.
  • Assist in preparing paperwork packages for inspections or engine changes as needed.
  • Ensure timely completion of Repair
  • Obtain all supporting data for forecasted maintenance inspections.
  • Conduct a quality control review of any deferrals issued on the previous shift for accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicating with Operations and Quality Departments as needed when aircraft maintenance status changes to ensure that the Operations / Flight Fallowing / Crew Scheduling / Sales and Quality Control Departments have the current status of each aircraft to include but not limited to all MEL I CDL and DMI assigned to each aircraft.
Requirements:

Education

  • Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • A valid unrestricted driver’s license
  • A&P Certificate

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Two years of experience in maintenance of large fixed wing aircraft
  • Boeing 737 Systems training and a minimum one year experience on aircraft preferred

Work Environment & Culture Skills:

  • Intermediate MS Office knowledge, computer software & internet proficiency
  • Candidate must pass DOT/FAA pre-employment drug screen and a DOT/FAA compliant background check
