Registered Dietician - Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)

Community Clinic is a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) committed to providing quality, comprehensive, and compassionate healthcare to everyone in our community, regardless of their ability to pay. Our organization includes three medical clinics, three dental clinics, behavioral health services, WIC, and community outreach programs. Through our integrated model of care, we work together to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve.

We are seeking a full-time Registered Dietitian to join our Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program. In this role, you will provide individualized nutrition assessment, education, counseling, and support to pregnant women, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age five. You will play a vital role in promoting healthy pregnancies, supporting child growth and development, encouraging breastfeeding, and helping families establish lifelong healthy eating habits.

Job responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments to determine nutritional risk and eligibility in accordance with USDA and Wisconsin WIC Program guidelines.
• Provide individualized nutrition counseling and develop participant-centered care plans that promote healthy lifestyles and positive nutrition outcomes.
• Educate participants on prenatal nutrition, infant feeding, breastfeeding, child nutrition, food preparation, healthy weight, and chronic disease prevention.
• Support and encourage breastfeeding through education, counseling, and referrals to lactation resources when appropriate.
• Prescribe and tailor WIC food packages based on participant needs and program guidelines.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, community agencies, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate participant care.
• Provide nutrition education through individual appointments, group classes, and community outreach activities.
• Accurately document participant encounters while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with USDA, Wisconsin WIC, and organizational standards.
• Assist participants in accessing community resources that support food security, health, and wellness.
• Stay current with evidence-based nutrition practices and WIC program policies and procedures.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and continuing education opportunities

Experience/Education requirements:

• Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

• Experience
  • Registered Dietitian experience preferred.
  • Experience working with maternal and child health, public health, community nutrition, or WIC is preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and lifecycle nutrition, including pregnancy, infancy, childhood, and breastfeeding.
• Knowledge of USDA WIC regulations and participant-centered counseling techniques is preferred.
• Excellent communication, education, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Strong organizational, critical thinking, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Hmong skills are a plus.

Required Credentials:

• Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• Licensed Dietitian through the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS), or eligible to obtain licensure.

Schedule:

• Full-Time
• Monday through Friday
• No evenings, weekends, or major holidays
