Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java/Spring Boot microservices to implement business functionality with high availability and reliability in an Agile development framework.
  • Work with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into service designs, including API definitions, data models, and integration patterns for distributed systems.
  • Develop and maintain RESTful services and supporting application layers using standard enterprise frameworks and data access technologies (e.g., ORM based persistence).
  • Own end to end feature delivery by producing production ready code, conducting peer reviews, improving existing components, and performing performance tuning to meet quality and service level expectations.
  • Deploy and operate microservices in containerized environments, supporting Kubernetes based deployments and maintaining release configurations through automated CI/CD pipelines (including templated deployment configuration where applicable) using Azure DevOps and industry-standard build and deployment tools (e.g., Maven/Jenkins or equivalent).
  • Manage source control and release practices, including branching strategies, release coordination, and traceability of changes across environments and resolving source control conflicts as needed.
  • Participate in Agile delivery processes by managing work items, supporting sprint planning and backlog refinement, and delivering committed scope within iteration timelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Monitor application health and logs across multiple services and serve as a technical point of contact for troubleshooting, triage, and resolution of issues in development, test, and production environments.
  • Lead production support activities by coordinating incident triage, managing escalations, and guiding the support team to restore service within defined SLAs.
  • Perform root cause analysis for defects and incidents, implement corrective and preventive fixes, and produce documentation/knowledge articles to reduce recurrence and improve operational stability.
  • Develop and execute unit tests for developed software components and support traceability of requirements to test coverage as needed.
  • Improve system performance by identifying inefficient processing patterns and optimizing application logic and data retrieval to reduce latency and increase throughput.
  • Develop and maintain database objects and query optimizations to support application data access and reporting needs.
  • Provide technical guidance through onboarding, training sessions, and best practice mentoring to improve team delivery quality and consistency, and support team ramp up by onboarding new engineers (onshore/offshore) through structured knowledge transfer, documentation, and training to ensure consistent implementation standards.
  • Drive adoption of AI assisted development practices to improve engineering productivity and quality, including evaluation and rollout of industry standard coding assistance and documentation automation tools such as GitHub Copilot in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Support cloud modernization initiatives by contributing to cloud native deployment patterns and operational practices across multi environment releases.
  • Collaborate with cross functional and external integration teams to design and implement integrations with telecommunications OSS/BSS platforms supporting order management, provisioning, and billing workflows, including defining interface contracts, coordinating data flows, and resolving defects related to distributed microservices and OSS/BSS interactions.
  • Contribute to team meetings, delivery coordination, and technical triage activities across multiple environments. Telecommuting and remote work permitted from anywhere within the U.S.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in the related occupation of Software Developer, Technical Lead, or equivalent.
  • Prior experience must include 3 years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, and deploying and operating containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Telecommuting and remote work permitted from anywhere in the U.S. Travel and relocation possible to unanticipated client locations throughout the U.S.
  • Domestic travel required approximately 10% of the time to various client sites.
