Job Description:
This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, coding solutions, unit testing, and ensuring the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust, and well-tested interfaces. Job expectations include an awareness of development and testing practices in the industry.

Position Summary:

The Software Engineer II serves as a key technical contributor for the EIT Core Automation Platform (ECAP), responsible for developing, integrating, and supporting automation solutions that enable platform stability, scalability, and delivery of strategic initiatives.

Working closely with technology leadership, Product Owners, business stakeholders, and offshore teams, this role translates business requirements into technical solutions, drives engineering best practices, and supports execution of the ECAP roadmap.

This position provides critical technical expertise and delivery support for a highly visible platform that serves as a foundational automation capability across EIT. The role supports platform stability, modernization initiatives, migration efforts, and successful execution of business and technology objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
  • Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements
  • Performs Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) activities
  • Contributes to story refinement and definition of requirements
  • Participates in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle
  • Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause
  • Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
  • Design, develop, test, and support scalable Python-based solutions for ECAP.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, architects, stakeholders, and development teams to deliver business solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and delivery guidance across distributed teams.
  • Lead solution reviews, code reviews, performance tuning, and adherence to engineering standards.
  • Develop and support integrations using Python, REST APIs, Kafka, SQL, and distributed platform technologies.
  • Support production stability, incident management, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in story refinement, estimation, sprint planning, and Agile delivery activities.
  • Conduct spikes, proof-of-concepts, and technical evaluations to mitigate risk and support future platform capabilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of applicable experience
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise-scale applications.
  • Hands-on Python development experience.
  • Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
  • Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with large-scale data platforms such as Starburst/Trino.
  • Experience with OpenShift, Redis, and object storage technologies.
  • Experience with Git, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes.
  • Experience working in Agile teams and supporting production environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and technical leadership skills.
