Description

Are you an experienced Highway Design Project Manager ready to lead complex transportation infrastructure projects across New York State? At Fisher Associates, you'll manage high-visibility highway and roadway design projects from preliminary design through PS&E, permitting, and construction support, working directly with NYSDOT and local agencies to deliver safe, resilient, and community-focused transportation solutions.

You'll lead multidisciplinary teams on corridor improvements, intersection upgrades, and federally funded transportation programs, guiding projects from concept through completion. With a strong and steady backlog of transportation work, you'll enjoy long-term stability while seeing your designs built in the very communities where we live and work. If you're a results-driven civil engineering leader who thrives on ownership, technical excellence, and client partnership, this is your opportunity to shape New York's transportation infrastructure while advancing your career in a visible leadership role.

About Fisher Associates

Our services span civil/site engineering, transportation engineering, electrical engineering, landscape architecture, architecture, planning, environmental services, land surveying, GIS, construction inspection, precast and construction engineering, each offering opportunities to shape communities and improve lives.

  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, and staffing to ensure successful project execution.
  • Lead design strategy in collaboration with teams and clients to ensure alignment and seamless delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, permitting requirements, and quality standards.
  • Manage risk proactively and maintain strong financial performance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, agencies, and stakeholders
  • Cultivate and strengthen client relationships to support successful project outcomes and repeat business.
  • Oversee project billing, client updates, QA/QC of deliverables, and project closeout.
  • Support proposal development, scope definition, and fee estimates for new and existing clients.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineering staff.

Requirements

What You Bring, Your Expertise as a Highway Project Manager

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
  • 7+ years of progressive highway design and transportation project management experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing transportation projects from preliminary design through PS&E and construction support.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred or ability to obtain it
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs and MicroStation (preferred)
  • Proven success in developing trusted, long-term client relationships
  • Demonstrated experience managing NYSDOT highway design projects and federally funded transportation programs.
  • Dedicated to fostering trusting relationships through collaboration, integrity and respect.
  • Deliver high-quality work using critical thinking, sound judgment, and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Proactively own projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, growth environment.
  • Curious and improvement-minded, embracing feedback and continuously seeking better solutions.

Salary Range $95,000-$130,000
