A small business with a 45-year history as a first-class materials science and applied research and development firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented scientist to join our team. This role involves working in a chemistry laboratory setting to aid in product development and conduct various tests, measurements, and inspections. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a lab environment, the ability to work independently, follow established procedures, document and present results accurately, and collaborate effectively with others.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable integrating their biochemical expertise into multidisciplinary research efforts. In this role, the candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply biochemistry knowledge to projects involving DNA, RNA, enzymes, antibodies, and antigens, ensuring effective integration of synthetic chemistry with biochemical processes.
  • Utilize experimental design software, such as Design Expert, to plan and optimize experiments.
  • Engage in formulation chemistry, developing and testing chemical formulations for various applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on diverse projects, adapting to different research needs and contributing biochemistry expertise.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of experimental procedures, results, and analyses.
  • Stay updated on current advancements in both synthetic chemistry and biochemistry, integrating new techniques and findings into ongoing projects.
  • Follow all safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe laboratory environment.
  • Maintain a clean workspace, contributing to overall cleanliness and tidiness in a laboratory setting.
  • Assist with other project-related tasks as required.

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in Biochemistry, or related field.
  • Experience working in a chemistry laboratory environment is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve technical problems by combining scientific knowledge and hands-on experiments to undertake specific tasks and projects.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze problems, troubleshoot, and develop practical solutions.
  • Comfortable managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective technical communication skills, interpersonal communication skills, presentation skills, and technical writing skills.
  • Proficient in MS Windows, Office Products, and familiarity with Apple OS.

  • Must be capable of lifting to 50 pounds and able to use a respirator.
