Job Description Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:
Figure models pose either undraped, draped, or in costume in the classroom/studios to contribute to the learning and creative processes of students in the areas of drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture.

Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Responsibilities may evolve based on organizational needs, and similar or related tasks may be assigned as necessary. Management reserves the right to assign additional duties as required.

1. Creates suitable, interesting, sustained poses (either undraped or draped), as directed by instructor.
2. Performs creative gesture poses and sustains them for varying periods of time (i.e., 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, etc.) as required by the class/session, for up to three hours.
3. Ability to create sequential or consecutive poses when directed.
4. Ability to create scenarios for clothed figure or character-focused classes, including ability to interpret impromptu directions, and translate into spontaneous, creative expressions for the drawing experience.
5. Provides creative costuming and props for appropriate class/assignment.
6. Maintains professional appearance, demeanor, and willingness to work cooperatively in studios at all times.
7. Maintains good personal hygiene.
8. Provides sheet, towel, timer, robe, and slippers for every class.
9. Develops interesting pose repertoire through a variety of resources such as articles, books, and videos.
10. Communicates directly with instructor regarding length and style of pose and costuming as requested. Informs instructor if the pose is too physically demanding.
11. Processes necessary paperwork for Model Coordinator and Office of Human Resources in a timely manner.
12. Follows Figure Modeling Guidelines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of modeling techniques; ability to pose undraped or draped, to work flexible schedule, to work assigned schedule, and to arrive on time
Ability to hold a variety of interesting poses, including standing poses, without movement, for varied durations
Ability to demonstrate awareness and confidence of own body in the space around it. (Requires strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.)
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications:

Professional demeanor and knowledge of modeling techniques.
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively; orally and in writing.
Ability to arrive on time as scheduled.
Ability to work flexible schedule, to work assigned schedule.
Ability to pose undraped and draped.
Ability to hold a variety of interesting poses, including standing poses, without movement, for varied durations; and/or sequential poses when instructed.
Ability to demonstrate awareness and confidence of own body in the space around it.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of figure modeling techniques.
Experience in sports, dance, performative arts, or any form of movement.
Experience creating sequential or consecutive poses.
Experience in wearing costumes or character development.
