Job description

Job Title: Embryology Supervisor

Reports to: Lab Director

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary: CNY Fertility is a renowned fertility center offering advanced treatments like IVF, IUI, and egg freezing. With a patient-centered approach and cutting-edge technology, we support individuals and couples on their journey to parenthood. As an Embryology Supervisor you will be proficient in all areas of the laboratory as well as lead a team of embryologists.


A general supervisor will be proficient in all areas of the embryology laboratory. This position requires a weekend and holiday rotation. Oral and written communication is required as well as computer literacy. Must ne able to lift and carry petri dishes, laboratory equipment, supplies, liquid nitrogen dewars, samples and other materials throughout the work area. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. and have steady and good balance. Adequate vision to visualize samples and safely read patient identifiers. Participation in a minimum of 12 CE hours per year is required.


Required Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Daily quality control, media preparation and dish preparation

  2. Microscope and pipettor use

  3. Use of other lab equipment to complete procedures: balance, pH meter, CO2 monitor, labeler, etc.

  4. Oocyte retrieval and denuding of oocytes

  5. Embryo and oocyte thawing/embryo and oocyte freezing

  6. Fertilization checks and embryo transfers

  7. ICSI and conventional fertilization techniques

  8. Understand and be able to use eIVF for data entry

  9. Schedule procedures, complete tasks, and navigate patient charts

  10. Understand cryopreservation and storage of specimens

  11. Beginning patient communication and patient identification

  12. Assist in cleaning and stocking the laboratory

  13. Perform PGT and loading of samples and able to interpret a PGT report and call patient results

  14. Perform PESA/TESE sperm retrievals and search

  15. Supervise the entire embryology staff, including overseeing PTO and scheduling staff

  16. Participate in the alarm response team, be able and willing to troubleshoot and respond to alarms

  17. This position may also be responsible for performing other duties as assigned, consistent with the role and operations needs of the organization


Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Bachelors degree in a chemical, biological, clinical, medical or reproductive laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution required. Minimum 4 years of experience in Embryology lab and 1 year of supervisory experience required.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs.
  • Excellent computer literacy.
  • Adequate vision or corrective lenes for sample identification.
  • Ability to multitask in fast paced environments.
