Job description

Paramedic

Wakulla County Fire Rescue has immediate need of full-time and flex/part-time Paramedics. This position works under the supervision of the on-duty Captain to provide rescue services including emergency response, advanced pre-hospital life support, patient care, and transport. Duties include the operation and maintenance of rescue apparatus and medical equipment.

Qualified applicants will possess and maintain the following training, certifications, and abilities:

  • High School diploma or acceptable equivalent
  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • State of Florida Paramedic Certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider certification
  • Certificate of completion of an approved Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC)
  • Certificates of completion of FEMA IS-00100, IS-00200, IS-00700, IS-00800 Courses
  • Ability to pass FBI Background Check
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.

Full Time: Minimum starting salary is $51,168/year ($15.38/hour for 2,912 scheduled hours per year including built-in overtime) plus a generous benefits package with a potential value of up to $25,000 annually. Full-time employee benefits include employer sponsored health insurance ($5/month employee only, $305/month whole family), 25% of salary employer contribution to Florida Retirement System, Paid Time Off including holiday, vacation, sick, parental, and bereavement leave. Shift schedule is 48-on/96-off with overtime calculated weekly starting at 40 hours. Salary is negotiable up to 10% based on experience. Tuition assistance and paid leave may be available to attend Firefighter school with 2-year commitment.
