Job description

About the Role:

The Automation Technician will maintain, repair, and improve electrical and electronic equipment throughout the plant.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Trade School or Industrial Apprenticeship in Electric or Electronic Trades.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience as a journeyman electrician or electronic technician.
  • There may be exposure to adverse weather conditions, extreme cold and heat, handling hazardous chemicals, unpleasant odors, dirt, and dust.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or chemicals; and vibration.
  • Ability to operate an industrial system computer.
  • Reasonable knowledge in hand-held measuring devices, micrometers, measuring tapes.
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow job and safety requirements.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Test performance of electromechanical assemblies, use test instruments such as oscilloscopes, electronic voltmeters, or Megohmmeter.
  • Read electrical blueprints or technical Data sheets to do a diagnostic and install electronics assembly.
  • Install electrical or electronic devices in housings or assemblies, using soldering equipment and hand tools.
  • Assemble electric and electronic components, using hand or power tools.
  • Inspect electronic devices for possible damage in a troubleshooting situation.
  • Analyze and record daily PLC modification and prepare written documentation.
  • Support the Electronic Engineer in a daily basic activity such as troubleshooting issues and execution of automation projects at the axis Facilities.
  • Support the maintenance Department to diagnostic the automation related problems on the production Lines.
  • Repair, rework, or calibrate electric and electronic assemblies to meet operational specifications or tolerances.
  • Work with PLC Software Allen Bradley/Siemens (monitoring, troubleshooting, and doing modifications on the running programs)
  • Work with VFD's. (Allen Bradley Power Flex, Siemens, and ABB). (monitoring, troubleshooting, and doing backups and restore procedures)
  • Work with different kinds of encoders and sensors.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance assigned on the Automation equipment.
  • Other Duties assigned by the Automation Coordinator.
