What is a flex time remote purchasing?

A Flex Time Remote Purchasing job involves managing the procurement of goods and services for a company while working remotely and with flexible hours. Professionals in this role are responsible for sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, placing orders, and ensuring timely delivery, all while collaborating with team members online. The 'flex time' aspect means that employees can often set their own schedules, making it ideal for those seeking work-life balance. This position typically requires strong communication, organizational, and negotiation skills, as well as proficiency with digital procurement tools.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a flex time remote purchasing professional?

To thrive as a Flex Time Remote Purchasing professional, you need a solid understanding of procurement processes, negotiation, and supply chain management, often supported by a relevant degree or purchasing certification. Familiarity with purchasing software like SAP Ariba, Oracle Procurement Cloud, or other ERP systems is typically required. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential for managing vendor relationships and multitasking remotely. These skills and qualifications ensure efficient procurement operations, cost savings, and smooth coordination with suppliers and internal teams while working flexibly.

In a flex time remote purchasing role, collaboration with suppliers and internal teams is primarily managed through digital communication tools such as email, video calls, and procurement platforms. You'll often coordinate with suppliers to negotiate terms, track orders, and resolve issues, while also working closely with departments like finance and operations to ensure procurement aligns with company needs. Job description

About Keystone Technologies:

Founded in 1945, Keystone Technologies is a third-generation, family-owned business headquartered in the Greater Philadelphia area. A national leader in the commercial and industrial lighting industry, Keystone reaches customers across the U.S. with its mission of "Light Made Easy."

Who We Are:

We’re not your typical lighting company — and we like it that way. At Keystone, we move fast, think big, and challenge the status quo to deliver on our promise of Light Made Easy®. Our team thrives on new ideas, supports one another, aims high, works hard, and laughs often. And we always put people first — whether that’s our customers, partners, or each other. If you’re passionate about growing, collaborating, and making a difference, you’ll feel right at home here.

Keystone's core values:

  • Wow Customers: Every interaction is an opportunity to show how much we care and appreciate all our customers, internal and external, so we create unique experiences that go above and beyond their expectations.

  • Grow Passionately: We embrace growth through creativity, curiosity, and an eagerness to learn. Our work isn’t just about achieving more; it’s about evolving personally and professionally, transforming at every opportunity.

  • Do Right: It’s not just good ethics to do the right thing; it’s good business. We uphold the highest integrity, and we do the right thing even when it’s hard. Why? Because trust is our most important currency.

  • Value People: We come from a range of backgrounds, affiliations, and experiences. We honor everybody’s story and build lifelong relationships, whether with colleagues, customers, or partners, because to reach our fullest potential means empowering people to thrive.

  • Challenge Convention: We refuse to blindly accept the status quo. With agility, courage, and tenacity, we continuously improve — asking tough questions, looking beyond surfaces, and not stopping to rest on our accomplishments.

What we offer:

Our benefits include medical, dental, vision, voluntary life insurance, employer-paid group life insurance, short-term disability, a 401k plan with company match, paid time off, and philanthropic opportunities.

The Opportunity:

The ESCO Inside Sales Associate supports the ESCO Sales Team by managing quote opportunities, responding to customer inquiries, and fostering strong customer relationships. The ideal candidate possesses lighting industry experience and product knowledge, enabling them to provide accurate product recommendations, identify equivalent solutions, cross-reference competitive manufacturers' part numbers, and deliver exceptional support to customers and sales representatives.

Your Impact:

  • Analyze customer sales data to identify sales trends and opportunities with management

  • Collaborate with the Sales Support Specialist, ESCO Territory Managers, and the Director of Sales Operations to monitor inventory levels, validate material allocation, and proactively support future project demands and order fulfillment

  • Cross-reference lighting manufacturers' part numbers to Keystone products, ensuring accurate specification matching, competitive replacements, and effective support for customers, distributors, and sales teams

  • Create and manage opportunities in the CRM

  • Utilize CRM, P21, IAV report, and Excel to manage ESCO & NA projects

  • Maintain project visibility through management and reporting tools (Excel & CRM) to track status, timelines, and on-time delivery

  • Oversee pipeline opportunities to ensure they are closed properly

  • Receive and process ESCO customer purchase orders, allocating material appropriately while verifying inventory accuracy

  • Build rapport and develop long-term relationships with ESCO customers to drive product demand

  • Assist the ESCO team in processing time-sensitive purchase orders

  • Other duties as assigned

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's in business administration or related field preferred

  • 1-2 years of sales experience in similar inside sales role

  • Lighting product knowledge preferred but not required (for Hybrid); Lighting industry experience and product knowledge required (for Remote)

  • Lighting industry experience and product knowledge preferred but not required

  • The ability to perform in a fast paced, time-sensitive work environment

  • Possess outstanding customer service skills with attention to rapid responses, clarity in communications and a strong drive to exceed customer expectations

  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and a keen attention to detail

  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel

  • Experience using CRM and Prophet 21 preferred but not required

  • Uphold and implement Keystone’s Core Values, consistently aligning actions and decisions that reflect the core principles
