About Empowered Services 

Empowered Services provides one-on-one in-home and community-based support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our focus is to hire and train Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to help people build independence, maintain routines, and stay connected to their communities in meaningful ways.

Role Overview 

We are hiring an entry-level Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide consistent, structured care for individuals of all ages in the Yamhill County area. (No prior DSP experience required – paid training provided.)    


This role centers around: 

  • Supporting daily routines and household structure 
  • Assisting with community-based activities and errands 
  • Encouraging independence while maintaining clear expectations 
  • Behavioral support 
  • Emotional regulation 
  • Crisis support 


This is a strong fit for someone who is consistent, patient, and confident maintaining boundaries in a supportive way


Here are some examples of the current customers that are available:

  • Customer 391: Adult male in Dayton who requires assistance with transportation and support at Special Olympic events, interests include basketball and powerlifting, needs assistance maintaining appropriate social boundaries. What the schedule might look like: flexible on hours, 2 days per week.
  • Customer 193: Adolescent female in Newberg that needs assistance with manners, building a positive relationship with younger sibling and fine motor skills. Enjoys puzzles and games and anything with water. What the schedule might look like: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with flexible hours on those days. 
  • Customer 242: Young adult female in Newberg who needs assistance with trips to the grocery store and staying on budget, cues about appropriate behavior in public and rides to and from their volunteer position. Customer would benefit from a provider who is soft spoken, patient and willing to learning her routine. What the schedule might look like: Monday & Wednesday for 6 hours each day
  • Customer 459: Adolescent female in Newberg who is looking for support with co-regulation, coping skills and redirecting. Must be comfortable assisting with toileting. Does well with a provider who is patient and calm. What the schedule might look like: Tuesday-Friday 9am to 12pm
  • Customer 247: Young adult male in Grand Ronde looking for an experienced provider with a medical background for high medical needs and monitoring. Customer is non verbal and uses his eyes to communicate. What the schedule might look like: Sunday 6am-2pm, Tuesday 4pm-2am and Saturday 6am-12pm
  • Customer 476: Teenaged male in Dundee who loves video games. Customer needs assistance with regulating emotions and behaviors. What the schedule might look like: Saturdays all day


  What You’ll Do 

  • Support daily living routines (meals, hygiene, organization) 
  • Assist with community access (shopping, errands, outings) 
  • Provide emotional regulation support using calm, structured approaches 
  • Maintain clear boundaries and consistent expectations 
  • Assist with household upkeep and organization 
  • Encourage independence and personal responsibility 
  • Communicate updates with care teams and complete required documentation 
  • Help maintain a safe, predictable, and respectful environment 


  Compensation & Benefits 

  • $23–$25 per hour (based on experience and qualifications) 
  • Paid training 
  • Flexible schedule based upon the customers needs 


Full-time employees (30+ hours/week) may be eligible for:

  Qualifications:  

  • Must be 18 years or older 
  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation 
  • Current auto insurance (meeting state requirements) 
  • Ability to pass a background check (not all records are disqualifying) 
  • Comfortable supporting personal care needs  


Preferred: 

  • Experience in caregiving, DSP, behavioral support, or IDD roles 
  • Experience supporting individuals with I/DD 
  • Strong communication and boundary-setting skills 
  • CPR/First Aid certification
