Your Opportunity:

The Alberta Children's Hospital (ACH) is proud to introduce our Seasonal Part Time Positions (SPTP) in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). SPTPs allow you to make a significant and meaningful impact in pediatric critical care while also providing you the opportunity of extended scheduled breaks. The PICU is a Level III, 20 bed ICU providing advanced medical/surgical care for patients from birth to 18 years from all over southern Alberta. The PICU is looking for positive and motivated Registered Nurses who are passionate about providing the best care to our patients and families while supporting the PICU throughout the SURGE season. As a valued member of the PICU team, you will fulfill your annual FTE commitment of 86 shifts in 365 days within a concentrated timeframe of 6 months. This opportunity gives you all the benefits, security, and stability that come with a permanent role within our nursing team while also unlocking extended periods of designated time off. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. The Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary is a quaternary pediatric hospital & center for complex pediatric care & research. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the PICU Registered Nurse provides leadership in the assessment, planning, implementation, & evaluation of nursing care for pediatric patients requiring critical care services. The Registered Nurse practices to full scope as defined by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year of ACH Pediatric Critical Care nursing experiencewithin the last 5 years. May consider applicants with: 2 years ACH Pediatric experience or 2 years adult ICU/ER experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

PALS Certification. Advanced critical care nursing certifications - ENPC/ACLS/TNCC. Canadian Nurses Association CNCCP(C) Pediatric ICU Certification. American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACCN) Certification. Participation in working groups/committees or quality improvement initiatives. Previous experience with Connect Care.
