Job description

American Traveler is seeking a Radiation Therapist with 3 years of recent TrueBeam experience for a Level II Trauma Center's Radiation Therapy department in Reno, NV.


Requirements
  • ARRT certification with Radiation Therapy license required if applicable
  • AHA BLS certification required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain State of Nevada Radiation Control Program certification
  • Minimum 3 years of recent TrueBeam experience required
  • Skilled in localization procedures, basic dosimetry, and custom block fabrication
  • Proficiency in skin instruction and EMR skills required
  • Must be able to accurately perform all radiation therapy administration tasks

Responsibilities
  • Hospital-based Radiation Therapy department at a Level II Trauma Center
  • Treats adolescent, adult, and geriatric oncology patients
  • Operates linear accelerators (TrueBeam) and simulators
  • Uses EPIC for electronic health records, charting, and record and verify systems
  • Day shift schedule from 7:30am-4pm, with 6:45am start if assigned warm-up duty
  • 36 guaranteed weekly hours with potential to flex to 40 hours based on unit needs
  • Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
  • Floating required to meet organizational needs up to competency level
  • One additional shift pickup required during the schedule period
  • Administer prescribed therapeutic radiation doses and perform localization procedures for treatment preparation
  • Provide support, education, and teaching to cancer patients and their families
  • Assist in onboarding new team members and educating students
  • Perform nursing and secretarial support duties as related to the role
  • Annually demonstrate proficiency in body mechanics, fire safety, infection control, patient safety, and CPR
  • Complete Core RT Competency and Development Ladder requirements within 3 months of completing staff requirements
  • Facility may call off shifts without penalty for low census, up to 48 hours per 13-week contract
  • Minimum of 2 major holidays coverage required
  • Candidates must live more than 60 miles from the facility to be considered
  • Prior travel experience required, including at least one recent 13-week travel assignment within the past year
  • Returning travelers must have a 13-week break after completing a prior contract before reapplying
