Job description

The Surgical Tech prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures. Follows hospital regulations and industry procedures to tend to patient during pre-operation procedures. Performs surgical case preparation i.e. surgical instrumentation and medical equipment. Relies on education and training to complete responsibilities.  Works under general supervision.

  • 1 year experience in OR Graduate of accredited Surgical Technologist program
  • High School or equivalent and Graduate of Accredited Surgical Technology program or 1 year experience in OR
  • Communication, Customer Service, computer Skills. Knowledge of medical terminology.

  1. Surgical Case Preparation: This will have been satisfactorily performed when...
    1. Proper equipment, instruments, and supplies are provided for procedures and specialty areas by providing with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
    2. A well organized sterile setup/field is maintained at all times contributing to smooth operations at all times with no more than 2 documented surgeon complaints annually.
    3. Anticipates and responds effectively by performing assignments in a timely and efficient manner with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
    4. Proper sterile techniques are followed and maintains a sterile field at all times with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
    5. Assistance is provided to the circulating RN with procedure/patient preparation with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
    6. A working knowledge of autoclaves is followed and proper sterilization method for instruments selected at all times with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
