Job type: Full-Time (Onsite)

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Shift: Rotational, 5:00 AM–1:30 PM for training. After the initial 3-month training period, the position will transition to a rotational shift schedule based on business needs.

JOB SUMMARY

A boiler mechanic/operator is responsible for maintaining the boilers, evaporator, chiller, and pasteurizer line and all associated equipment. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Operate steam generated boiler(s) and other steam system equipment and devices.

· Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on steam generating boilers and other steam system equipment and devices.

· Operate pneumatically activated valves (automatic and/or manually).

· Operate mechanical valves and safety devices.

· Perform boiler, steam generation system and devices safety procedures and timely inspections, required by the company and state of California compliance regulations and document them accurately.

· To operate and maintain new boiler equipment, for optimum performance and efficiency.

· Follows and ensures adherence to established Grower Direct Nut Co., local, state, and federal regulations and requirements as well as food safety, sanitation, food production and nutritional guidelines.

· Established and ensures adherence to procedures and standards, which are in agreement with these regulations, requirements and guidelines.

· Other Duties as assigned

Requirements:

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

  • Will frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, taste and smell.  
  • Will occasionally sit and occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl. 
  • Must use both hands for rapid mental muscular coordination, simultaneously. 
  • Must be able to reach high and low levels, frequently. 
  • Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 50 pounds frequently. 
  • Must lift with arms up to floor to waist, waist to shoulder 50 pounds. 
  • Must be able to constantly stand/stoop/walk/bend, up to 12 hrs. 
  • Ability to strenuous flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently (15 flexion/minute). 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • May work near moving mechanical parts.  
  • May work around wet or humid conditions, in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and/or risk of vibration.


QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

1. At least 3+ years of experience in boiler operation (experience is a plus on this job).

2. Knowledge of general mechanical equipment maintenance.

3. Able to read and interpret schematics and diagrams (piping and pneumatic systems).

4. Knowledge of pneumatic operated systems and devices.

5. Knowledge of California Code of Regulations Title 8 (Boiler and Fired Pressure Vessel Safety Orders).

6. Boiler Operator certification (California) desirable. 

7. Organized, methodic, efficient and eager to learn.

8. Safety and performance oriented.

9. Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.

10. Must have a valid CA driver license without restrictions.
