Summary

We are hiring a Reserves Analyst to work directly with our Reserves Manager and support the engineering and data systems that underpin Elk Range's reserves process. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to reserves engineering, development planning, and asset management across a large and diverse portfolio.

The analyst will help maintain and improve our reserves database, reconcile engineering and economic assumptions, and support quarterly reporting and audit processes. Through this work, the successful candidate will develop a deep understanding of our assets and reserves methodology while building the skills needed to take on increasing responsibility over time.

The position is open to engineers and analysts fresh out of school as well as those with a few years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Support reconciliation of undeveloped location counts, PDP declines, and unit economics between our internal database (Maroon Bells) and ComboCurve, resolving discrepancies down to the well and unit level.
• Recut and maintain spacing units across Elk Range entities, reconciling unit-level changes to ComboCurve.
• Integrate new acquisitions and recent-activity wells into the corporate database (>10,000 wells across multiple entities).
• Help maintain development timing assumptions, including inputting work-in-progress (WIP) and time-to-initial-production (TIL) dates as well timing becomes known.
• Assist with reserves categories reclassification and ensure cost and revenue assumptions are booked consistently across entities.
• Update well cases and type curve assignments as production history and activity dictate.
• Identify and resolve duplicate units and other data-integrity issues across entities.
• Support the Reserves Manager in preparing quarterly reserves updates, RBL reporting, and third-party reserves audit deliverables.
• Coordinate with land administration on ownership and unit assumptions, and with underwriting to ensure reserves stay consistent with acquisition models.

• Organization and follow-through. The ability to work a structured backlog of concurrent tasks to completion without dropping threads.

• Self-starting and high agency. Able to be self-directed in learning our systems and “connect the dots” across engineering, land, and finance.

Hard Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
• 0–5 years’ experience in reservoir engineering, reserves, or database management. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Exposure to or proficiency in ComboCurve / Aries, Spotfire / Power BI, and QGIS / Arc is a plus.
• Python and SQL skills are a plus.

Travel Requirements

Potential 5%–10% domestic and international travel required for meetings, trainings, and conferences. International travel could involve an annual on-site training session with our offshore team in India.
